He gets a lot of the blame because he makes a lot of head-scratching decisions. If he was a better in-game tactician he wouldn't get so much flak. Unfortunately, he's not very good at in-game management.

Its not like Farrell doesn't do anything right. But he has sure had his share of questionable decisions this year...and last. He just isn't a very good in game tactician. His strength is in protecting his players and handling the media. Like Francona.

Players do not make lineup or pitching change decisions. This is a non-sensical post that doesn't address the actual issue.

To the last hitter of the 1st inning, Price threw a first pitch changeup away for strike 1. This was a great first pitch, since the previous batter saw nearly all fastballs. But then on the 2nd pitch, Price threw the very obvious opposite and hittable pitch of a fastball inside. We're lucky he didn't crush it with the bases loaded. Anyways, I'm psyched we scored 4 runs!!!

 

I hate how the Braves play the same ringtone-length theme song over and over every single game, and have been doing it for who knows how many years.... I would get so freaking tired of that theme "song" if I was a player/staff/fan of the Braves. I actually think that something like that could make players unmotivated to play there, and also hurt team morale a bit.

Normally I give Farrell the benefit of a doubt. He does things that I just can not understand but I assume that he knows so much more about the game than I do, well, it must be right.

 

No more of that, though. He just does stupid s*** for stupid reasons.

 

Now my favorite Sox manager Tito did many such inexplicable moves. Yet when he would explain why he had done so he would concede that it probably was not the right move. Then he would proceed to give a pretty good explanation of his thinking when making that decision. So you could see, at least for a moment that he had a good idea, even if it did not work out.

 

Farrell, when asked about his moves gives some of the dumbest answers I have heard from any coach or manager.

 

I respect the hell out of the guy because he does some good things for my team and he is a big time baseball guy.

 

I don't think that he will be around much longer. Certainly not after this season.

I wouldn't worry too much. His ERA in April is more than a full run higher than any other month, I believe. This struggling in the early going is nothing unexpected.

I usually hate when extra innings gives me opposing teams announcers, but Braves guys are actually pretty good and Lyons is awful, so I have no complaints about this series.

At the moment, but that staff has a lot of question marks. It will most likely be what keeps them from world series contention IMO, because that offense is legit.
