There is very little vindictive nastiness in iortiz. tough guy - whatever the hell that means - probably not but who cares. My guess is that he is a pretty good guy.

Thank you cp, you have earned a bottle of tequila my friend LOL!

Back to topic, I really like how the team looks like after a month. It actually has overpassed my expectations.

I'm new here, a transplant from the BDC board. Is there a list of topics that I'm not allowed to discuss?

Ok, snarkiness aside, I AM new here and when saw Cherrinton's name come up I put in my $.02. Sorry if I offended.

If you are willing to put up with the ********, you get to voice your opinion on all things Red Soxian as near as I can tell.

1. Cherington

2. FranCOMA

3. Theo (related signings: Crawford, Lugo)

4. Paplebon

5. Porcello's extension

6. Pablo's girth

7. Salty's defensive shortcomings

8. All things Mujica and Ogando

9. Stephen Drew retarding Xander's growth

10. Ellsbury being made of glass

11. Why won't JD Drew swing?

12. Should have re-signed Beltre

When in doubt, post it in the dead horses thread.

CP, I have an honest, non-snarky question for you. Are you new to baseball forums?

i thought I was the only one that was dead wrong about Beltre.

Are you crazy? There was a contingent of people here all over Beltre. That TheMino guy and an old timer whose handle I can't remember.

Were you here during the Beltre hate period? That was a good one.

Yeah, that one was even worse. Literally less than a month into the season he had some absurd, out of the ordinary stats, I think he had a higher batting average then he did OBP (Had a sac fly with no walks or something) and made like 5 errors, so everyone was calling for his head. Was one of the most irrationally hated players for literally no reason whatsoever.

I felt like me and like two other people were the only people who didn't hate Beltre on this site at that time.

Since were talking about players that were hated on who were actually solid, I do remember quite a few Coco Crisp haters, who I actually was a big fan of as well lol.

Well prepare to get your ass handed to you by the defenders of Farrell. Don't say I didn't warn ya.

Heh. My ass is my wife's. Good luck taking it from her.

Both very good posters, Kilos redrafts were a lot of fun and good debate.

To think they're both still solid contributors. Baseball is funny that way.

I've been avoiding Vmart in fantasy the last three seasons thinking "this is year he declines, I don't want him" and he continues to prove me wrong.

LOL! Naaahhh you can talk and debate whatever you want. Probably some people won't like that you talk about some issues like Cherington's issue, if so, just ignore them and keep going LOL! You'll be fine.

One of the biggest "what ifs" in recent Red Sox history is the idea that we could have traded Youk before his cliff dive and kept Beltre and/or VMart to play 3B and/or 1B.

That is nowhere near one of the biggest what-ifs in Red Sox history. Two prominent playoff games generate more poignant what-ifs than that one could ever dream of. 1986 world series game 6 and 2003 ALCS game 7

Or maybe Chiccini. Or maybe the guys we traded to get Kimbrle. There are any number of players who could have been traded in an effort to make the team better but he didn't. Instead he stockpiled them in AAA while the team spiraled to the cellar. And that's why I'm critical of him.

BC wasn't just stock-piling them, he was also trying to promote them as much as he could. It was up to the players to stick. JBJ was rushed a few times and couldn't stick. Betts on the other hand never looked back. WMB couldn't stick. Bogey was decent enough (just barely)& enough signs to keep on. He gave Webster & RDLR a lot of chances, ect...

it depends how recent you want to consider "recent". and if you are considering that he is referring to what ifs re: trade or not to trade players. not managerial what ifs or in game what ifs.

He wasn't that specific, so if he intended to imply anything other than pure general second guessing he needed to flesh out his point just a bit more.

Some day, some how, maybe this thread will get back to the 2016 season, which I happen to think is going pretty well despite real concerns about the rotation. On the latter, I would like to know how moonslav thinks that will work out. Will it turn around? Will new guys be brought in (or up from the minors)?

The rotation should be alright if Price ever returns to form. Porcello and Wright are playing over their head to hold the rotation in place for right now. It's kind of a footrace to see who regresses to the mean first, personally I still would bet on Price returning to form first, he's too talented to be this all season.
