Vazquez will not need to hit much in order to be called up. If he is healthy, he will be coming up. He is just too good as an overall catcher to leave in Pawtucket. It creates a problem. Some would say a good problem - I don't know about that. Swihart is proving that he can hit big league pitching. You going to send him back? why? Is he going to be our catcher of the future? They don't get much better than Hanigan as a backup. Everybody understands the logic with Swihart going down to work on his catching skills. Does it really make much sense? Is that the best move to make with respect to his future? I think it is going to be an issue and I think that there are going to be numerous others similar to this one in the very near future. Glad here that I just get to sit back and watch these stories develop.

Not just because of this start, but I'm seriously thinking Swihart may be extremely deficient calling a game and working with pitchers.

I can understand some of the past balls and defensive blocking issues due to lack of experience. But having the entire rotation fall apart last year until Harrigan returned, and what we have seen so far this year has me questioning what is going on.

Is CERA a stat on b-reference or Yahoo?

I hope this isn't true, he could be a monster at the plate and I give him much props for how he handled himself last year, but something just doesn't seem right.

You can find CERA on b-reference under pitching splits for the team or splits for each pitcher.

Farrell has to go.

Yes, I've not been impressed. Stands out to me are the way he keeps pulling Shaw from the line-up... it's not working and not good for Shaw. And that Joe Kelly start- we should not have won that game. Kelly loads the bases, then hits the next batter in the head. Kelly looked really shook up and not in any type of command... Josh Don. up next and Farrell leaves Kelly in!!!!!

He's just not a good manager. It took me a while to come to this conclusion but I'm firmly there now. The early pulling of Shaw is bad, having Young hit against righties is worse. Does he propose to do this all season? Ludicrous.

Because he's struggling hard with cross-ups between him and the pitcher, handling pitches, pitch selection (apparently, I'm of the thought most pitches are called from the dugout), and pitch framing. Yesterday it may have been nerves all around with the new guys pitching at home for the first time, etc. But it did not look good.

Hanigan caught Joe Kelly's start. Don't remember anyone faulting him.

But Hanigan doesn't look like a deer in headlights in most situations. I like Swihart, but there's something wrong there right now.

That's your biased perception.

Absolutely true, and I'm not going to sit here and try to convince you otherwise. And I hope I'm dead wrong.

Now if we could only get jung to think this way.

Why did Hannigan catch both Porcello and Kelly and not the other three?

He only caught Kelly, not Porcello.

Right....... just testing you..... actually I have no idea why I thought that.

How does the weather look for tonight's game?

Dickey Albert here. Things are presently just ducky in Sparrow Fart, Ma.

That is to say it is currently raining on the Massachusetts - Rhode Island border. It has been raining all day.

It is not promising that they play tonight's game?

My weather app said it'll rain until about 5:00pm and be cloudy after. If they can dry the field, they should be fine.
