Being a Sox fan automatically makes me a Yankee-hater, but I've always been one to root for the underdog.

Seeing the Yankees dump salary this year was amazing. Nobody expected these guys to remain in the hunt, but here they are.

I'm not afraid of facing the Yankees in the playoffs, in fact I probably prefer facing them than the O's, Jays or Tigers, so in a way, I don't mind seeing them pass up these other teams in tihe standings.

I want them fighting for last. Screw that Underdog stuff. If the Yankees fielded a team full of blind and deaf paraplegics with seeing eye dogs, I wouldn't consider them to be underdogs and I would hope that they would finish last and that their stadium would burn to the ground.

We can beat the Yanks easier than the O's, Jays or Tigers.

Tanaka plus Betances in a one game playoff is a problem for a lot of teams, especially if our offense steps up

I think the Sox can hit Tanaka. If the Sox have a late lead Betances may be moot.

That's assuming you can line up the pitcher you want on normal rest for a one-game playoff. That's hard bordering on impossible. You get the pitcher you get.

Good point.

And Jacko I guess it is correct in saying that the Yankees stand a better chance of beating the Sox in one game as apposed to an entire series. There is no way the Yankees are built better than the Sox in any way. Not that the Sox are a Juggernaut. But come on.

Spud, if we get Tanaka on the hill into the 7th, Clippard and Betances to close out the game, I take my chances against damn near anyone. Aside from that combo, I am not impressed for this yr. We have a ton of promise with Tanaka, Green, Cessa, and eventually Severino, but right now, we don't have much beyond that. If we get into the playoff and we line up Tanaka, we should reach the ALDS. That being said, I don't think we win the second wild card.

This is why I really want the Sox to take first place.

I really hope we can win the division. It will likely come down to the series that we have left with the Jays.

I root for an underdog not named the Yankees. Anyway, it's hard for me to ever consider them as underdogs.

I'm not "afraid" of the Yankees, but in a short series, much less a one game play in game, anything can happen.

I just know that losing to the Yankees would be much more painful to me than losing to any other team.

I don't want them anywhere near the playoffs.

Yanks have plenty of games left against the O's, Jays, and Sox. While the Jays have the best chance of winning the division, the Yanks are playing as well as anyone right now. They'll be a tough out and even if they miss the playoffs, there's a good chance they will spoil a few teams' playoff bids. There's a good chance Yanks have a better Sept. than a lot of teams ahead of them. That's baseball for you; it's unpredictability is humbling.

Anyone who can bash the Yankees like you do is all right in my book. ;)

I'm with HFX. Lose Yankees lose.

Yanks still have 7 games against Boston, 4 with the Jays and 3 with the O's. Next up, TB for 4 games in the Bronx. Hide the women 'n children 'n lock the door! The Yankees are coming. The Yankees are coming.

GO YANKS!

It's shocking that we deal off two elite closers and a guy on his way to a .300 30HR and 100RBI season and we got better. The young pitching is really stepping up. The hitting is picking up as well. This finish might have us enter the fray for free agency at year's end. Interesting to say the least

Kudos to Yankee management for having the guts to blow up the ship without sinking it.

I wish the Sox had had the courage to go totally young when they blew up the team in 2014. At least Cespedes morphed into Porcello, but at $20M a year, what did we really gain from losing Lester? $6M a year?

Being a Sox fan, I have to hate the Yanks, but I'm glad they swept Toronto, and I don't think I've admired the way the Yanks have done anything ( like trying to buy championships) until now.

I still don't think the Yanks have a very good team, which might not matter in the parity rich AL East. Yanks probably have to win 16 of their last 24 games to win the division. Since they play 14 of their last 24 games against AL East teams ahead of them in the race, it's still possible. Crazy times.

The Yankees are doing it with smoke and mirrors, really. That said, it really doesn't matter how they're winning if they're winning. I don't like it one bit. I was pulling for the Jays in every game of that series, which is the real reason that the Yankees won.
