You jumped into the thread and immediately misconstrued the point I was trying to make. That's pretty goddamn annoying. I'll take your "lighten up" and raise you a "read before you post".[/quote

I'll tell you what's pretty goddamn annoying, and it's your rudeness. A little patience and civility would go a long way toward making your point.

I civilly responded to the person who asked the question. You jumped in making a strawman argument. Afterwards you come in with the "calm down cowboy" condescending crap, and now you're asking for "patience and civility". Bro, give me a break. I am here to talk baseball, not to be told what I think by someone who I've barely interacted with.

I still hold out hope for Castillo. I never really viewed it as a panic move because everyone knew he would take a year to make it into the ML club since he really didn't play for over a year. I don't think he's going to be the "Ron Gant" clone that many compared him to.....but I think he will be a serviceable player. He has played at a pretty high level everywhere he played and he DID do well in the minors last year.......something may just be wrong between the ears.....who knows. Castillo under performing is not a huge issue yet (although the contract could get that way). Right now I want to see our starters ALL get on track....not just Wright and Porcello (never thought I'd say that) and I'd like to see Mookie start producing as well. Hes our table setter and this is the second year in a row he has gotten off to a slow start (power number are there yes.....but not a lot else).

All in all though......I'm liking this team more and more. They never seem out of the game, where last year the second they fell behind that was it.....

The power, the defense, the baserunning all have been there for Mookie. He will be fine.

As for Castillo, he's looking like a sunk cost, but the rationale behind signing him was sound. The bidding war for his services was huge, so it's not like the Red Sox were the only team who greatly valued his abilities.

@redsoxstats Young is 2-21 8 K in games he's started, 1-8 in his starts vs LHP and he's seen only 26 pitches. Red Sox have scored 4 runs in 3 LHP starts.

It's not just Young though, it's the entire offense against LHP.

He's the one player in the lineup who is being paid exclusively to hit LHP.
