And again, I think what some people are missing is that "Front Office" is a very broad term. There is not a lot of overlap between people who manage the games and players and people who make decisions about media employees. I doubt Cherington/Dombrowski or anyone on their staff had anything to do with this decision.

I work at a much larger company than the Boston Red Sox, and I can assure you that upper management is always aware of changes to our marketing campaigns. Changing the play by play TV announcer at a network that accounts for a significant portion of the team's value was undoubtedly brought to the owners prior to the announcement. The owners would always have a veto in those situations.

I also heard that he was netting more money because of the opportunity to do national network games. My understanding is the only down side is that he won't be near his children but the Padres offered to fly them out at regular intervals.

I miss the Don and Jerry show very very much these days. I keep trying to really like Dave and all of the ones filling in for Jerry but it just hasn't worked for me. I get a kick out of some of the things that get said and the goofy ways in which they are said but I don't need a steady dose of any of it. Orsillo and Remy are no longer together and presently neither is with us - I miss them.
