Armchair GMs and managers are the best!

They make the talksox world go round. There is no shortage of them here for sure. I think it is safe to say that we all share in the fun.

Honestly, everyone on here is an armchair GM and manager.

Very true. But there are variances, of course. Some fans are convinced they are much smarter baseball-wise than the manager.

We all have our opinions, and that indeed is what fuels Talksox.

This is true, but Bellhorn nailed it with his post. I feel as strongly about my opinions as anyone else here does, but I know that I don't have the knowledge nor the resources that the FO has. Therefore, I have always tried to give Ben and Farrell the benefit of the doubt by trying to understand their thinking and rationale when I disagree with their decisions. It doesn't mean that they're always right, but they know more about baseball, in particular, in running and managing the Red Sox, than anyone here does.

Armchair GM is what makes this site work. What fun is it to just blindly believe and not question. This isn't the Catholic Church. This is baseball

Who here blindly believes and doesn't question? I know you're not talking about me. ;)

@dgoold: Oh, and...Corey Littrell, LHP received from #RedSox w/ Lackey for Craig and Kelly, went 9-9, 2.69 ERA, 130 IP, 93 Ks at High-A. #cardinals

From Abraham in Boca:

" In speaking to several executives, it’s clear that Ben Cherington will not lack for employment opportunities. The consensus is that many of his moves will pay off long-term for the Red Sox and that several mistakes made on his watch were the product of decisions made above him."

So that's cool. Kimmi should be happy.

But what about Ben's students?

I'm glad you posted this. I was going to post this same quote.

I am glad that the other executives recognize what a great job Ben did with his long term goal. Dombrowski stated that he has had a lot of interest from other GMs, and that he was surprised at how early and how serious discussions have been already. That, along with this quote from PA, speaks volumes for the job Ben did building the farm.
