Also, we need to look a bit more closely at our new fan favorite, Mookie. His OBP is under .300 (.296). Whether it is bad luck of not, we need to move him out of the top of the order until his hits and walks start coming more regularly.

Counting today's game, Porcello has given up 11 home runs in 62 innings. That is exactly at twice the rate that he gave them up last season. Last year he gave up 18 Homers, and he is on pace to cough up 36 this season. That is alarming.

Everybody is making him contact, It's been like batting practice. This contract will be another nightmare.

i am lost, where is this team heading...papi nap panda hanley.. seems like when they were hitting we won first 4-5 series. since then it has been all downhill.

if firing pitching coach worked, i wonder what the hitting coach must be thinking every night.. its my turn now.

i think hitting coach has got to go. maybe it lits the fire in the hitters.

The Twins shouldn't score 6 against our number 1 pitcher. Four runs should have been enough to win today.

fixed ;)

Lost here too.

I can't think of one really good thing that has happened all year. Name one player that has played up to expectations.....

The best thing that has happened this year is that other teams bobbled the ball on us for a few weeks.

Holt, Tazawa and Koji. A utility player and two relievers.

This team can't seem to put their hitting and pitching together. Either they hit well, but give up a ton of runs. Or they pitch well, but can't score. This is a bad trend and does not bode well.

This team just has the mark of a bad team all over it. When they hit they don't pitch, when they pitch they don't hit. They hit good pitchers but get their asses handed to them by stiffs.

This team blows.

Napoli seemed like he was heating up, but the offense will only be as good as Big Papi. Nice to see Pedroia getting the power stroke going, but it's all really on Papi. Let's face it, they aren't going to fire either Cherington or Farrell during the season, probably not after it either. I think the issue is not so much how the team was constructed but underperformance - at least from the position players. If the offensive players were at their career numbers, the pitching - especially recently - should be enough to be competitive. Especially in this crappy division. Assuming they are still in contact with the top of the division in late June, and Hammels is still on the Phillies, I can see Ben making a move.

But if "underperformance" is found across the board, isn't that a condemnation of the manager/coaching staff or perhaps the FO who constructed the team under the delusion or hope that everything would go right (e.g., 2013)?

Panda's issues against LHP and lackluster regular season stats are not that surprising. Ortiz getting older is not surprising. Hanley getting an injury is not surprising especially that he looks like an OLB now. Catching was an automatic offensive black hole. Pedroia will never be 2008 Pedroia again. Xander is still a WIP. Betts was not a sure thing. The starting staff was underwhelming on paper. The mediocre performance is largely due to the FO imo.

Just frustrating to watch this team. So much potential and they play like s***. I really hope they turn it around, but not expecting anything.

And that is how most of us feel, unfortunately.

What's worse is the feeling that the Yankees may finish so far ahead of the Sox. I can't stand Yankee fans as it is. Ugh.
