Steven Wright didn't embarrass himself on the mound. That probably makes him a #2 in this rotation.

Whether you like knuckleballers or not, Wright's 4.02 ERA this year is the best on the staff. Hopefully he doesn't get shelled too soon.

When it comes to pitchers, I hope nobody really cares how they get it done as long as it gets done. Wright helped himself today. Having said that, I not betting that they give him another start. I would hope so, but with the way things seem to go, who really knows?

The loss hurts, but I have to say it was a much better spot start from Wright than I expected. He kept the Sox in the game, not his fault the offense has been lousy.

He just needs to knuckle down and he'll be fine.

Why can't this team hit?

They need you to hop a flight to Boston with a box full of B-12 syringes ASAP.

That should fix them.

Up to the Red Sox Minute by That Drunken Leprechaun that passes for a journalist with integrity but who is really a gossip mongering ******* with a personal axe to grind.

For want of an S.

-Insider information reveals that the 'Five Aces' T-shirts touted so vociferously and with no small amount of hubris by the Red Sox pitching rotation during Spring Training have been recalled due to a manufacturer's defect. The shirts should have read 'Five Asses.'

Sox performance against the law.

-A small group of Red Sox fans have filed a class action lawsuit on behalf of the entire Nation citing false adverstising and a breach of faith. 'This team was supposed to 'f***ing' hit,' said one disgruntled fan. With the team near dead last in runs scored and team average, one fan decided a lawsuit wasn't enough. Herbert MacDonald has announced he will be staging a mass sit down on Yawkey Way. Any fan who doesn't have a life like Herbert is welcome to join in. The festivities, which includes effigy and jersey burning, start at 11 am. Fans will also seek to apprehend Mike Napoli and attempt to give the Red Sox first baseman a shave, shower and a haircut. "He f***in' stinks," said one fan.

A time to Panic?

-Should Red Sox fans be worried? The same question was posed to Baltimore natives over their own team's trials and tribulations. The overwhelming response to that gallup poll was 'No.' Poorer fans in Baltimore must contend with having their water and electricity cut off first. In a strong gesture of community goodwill, Baltimore Orioles officials have announced they will be handing out free s*** buckets sporting an attractive team logo to the first 10000 fans at their next home game. "These buckets can also sub as puke bins during the game," said one official. Bottled water will still cost $4.99.

Not really a Panda?

-WWF, the World Wildlife Fund, has enacted a defamation claim against Red Sox 3rd baseman Pablo Sandoval for "making pandas everywhere look bad." Said one WWF official, 'everyone knows Pandas can hit from the left side." In response, the Chinese government has cancelled Sandoval's planned visit to the Beijing Zoo next offseason, citing security risks and a general lack of interest.

5 and 5 on the 10 game west coast road trip. I will take that at any time in any season. It doesn't matter whether they hit or not. .500 on the coast is good.

Edit: It seems that we never hit out there. Fenway will bring the bats to life this week. It will be the pitchers turn to suck.

I too am pleased with 5-5 on a west coats swing. But I do not believe that merely back at home will awaken the bats.

Why this team is not hitting is a mystery to me. I do think that they have too much talent for this to continue.

Spud, we have seen Fenway awaken slumbering lumber countless times in our lives. I think the hitting will come alive this week, but I am for the first time concerned that Papi will no longer be the hitter that we have enjoyed watching over these many years.

True, we have. But they have been in snooze mode all year at home.

Not sure what to think of Papi. We have seen him struggle before, too.

Last year his BA dropped precipitously. He said it was at least parlty because of the shift. This year is even worse, so far. And what does worry me is the lack of power and XBH.

I have assumed that he will play through 2016 so he can amass 500 HR for HOF consideration. At this rate I do not see 30+ HR in the card for him this year.

We'll see.

The Noffense is leaving me speechless. Every single hitter on the team except Brock Holt is below their career OPS-some, needless to say, are light years below it.

Hey Spud. It's been SO nice out here with fred not posting. Especially haven't missed his stupid nicknames for players. We know you hate Papi but he's done much more good for this team over the years than bad.

I have never understood the need to use those silly nicknames when talking about players on our beloved team. IMO, it sounds very juvenile and it takes away from the credibility of an argument.

Going into most road trips, my thinking is that if we win .500, then it's a decent road trip. It's frustrating when you think the team could have been 6-4, but I'll take 5-5 on a trip that takes us to the west coast. What's even better is that we were able to gain on the Yankees in the process.

LOL! Not everything is an argument. An exchange of ideas is not always a contest.

Yeah. It sucks, badly. He's juvenile and a coward (as in started 3 winning GT's in a row last season and then felt our Sox were going to lose game 4 of that particular series so decided not to start the GT for that reason. Also like a few others out here no respect). Not missed AT ALL!!! SO dread the end of his self imposed absence. Blah......
