When you're older, "enough time to get home and mentally prepare myself." will become "enough time to get piss ass drunk and snort some coke before the game."

Thunder probably thinks you're talking about drinking piss and snorting Coca-Cola.

@pgammo: 40 years ago Bosox opened vs. Henry Aaron, Brewers, Beniquez LF, Coinigliaro DH, Jim Rice on the bench.

If you're on Thunder's side, you got more problems than I realized.

Personally, and this is nothing against BTR, I'm on your side because you predicted the Sox to finish 162-0, not to mention that you wear dad pants.

That said, if the Sox lose today, you're out. LOL

This is unusually good for recent year's game threads.

Join the fun!

Spud, I wouldn't even know how to begin to respond to most of the posts in this thread. LOL

I enjoy interleague play, but here's the main problem with it - Napoli sits today and likely Wednesday so Papi can play, then Thursday Papi has to sit. That's just messed up.

My bold prediction of the season: Buchholz will pitch like the first half of 2013 for 32 starts this season and win the AL cy young. Anybody else want a hit off the crack pipe?

I can't believe that I have to work on Opening Day. Opening Day has arisen to Holiday level in my life. Next season, I intend to be at Fenway for Opening Day as I should be retiring soon. Luckily, President B.O's rhetoric about building the middle class was worthless, but the rich have gotten richer at a faster pace. My personal wealth has increased enough during his Presidency to make early retirement a reality. Go figure.

Opening day threads are sacred. No politics please.

It's a joke Fred. A joke about your face being wrinklier than Henry's, hence the irony of you calling him pruneface.

Peace brother.....I want no battles with you this year or anyone else on this board. Sorry so many don't like my sobriquet of Henry but it's become ingrained. Besides, cut me some slack ok? I did predict an AL East Title for our guys this year and for some reason I think my ass is on the line with that pearl. I am older than Henry as a matter of fact but the face has not wrinkled yet, just a lot less hair and lot lot less, well, you can guess.

Just got mlbtv, so I can actually watch consistently this year for the first time since 2012.

We got MLB TV last week too Ells and it was like finding an oasis in the Sahara. Baseball all morning, afternoon and evening if we want. That is living. And I don't have to always watch the Red Sox on my computer screen.

******** on that Ted. You've earned it so enjoy every ounce of it. Besides, think of all the baseball that will be coming your way in the years ahead. And don't forget, we touch base in Boston in July.

I hear you on the hair, even though I'm a lot younger than you. High-stress work takes its toll.

What I hope to see, besides a win obviously, is Buchholz pitching well. Would be huge for the team if he has a good season, and could be disaster if he's a disaster. I also hope Sandoval has a huge game, so I can at least go a couple of days without being annoyed at how dumb that signing was.

There are times in a season where a win is less important than a pitcher finding a groove. If Buchholz goes 8 IP, 0ER, 1R and 0-1, I think that is more valuable than a win where he gets hammered.

I'd love to see him do all that and get the win, but a good outing from him today will be important for setting the tone for this rotation.

I would like to see he DH in the NL finally.

Yep, we will touch base in July, and yes, what I posted was B.S. :) Edited by a700hitter

@brooksbaseball: My HOF tracking model has Betts needing to put up at least 3/4 with 1 double and 1 HR vs Hamels today to stay on his HOF pace.

@Shesta_Sox: Mookie Betts, 22, is the youngest Red Sox Opening Day...

-leadoff hitter since Rico Petrocelli in 1965.

-CF since Tony Conigliaro in 1964.

I feel like the National League always has the advantage in these games, when played at their parks. Their lineup is built for playing with a pitcher hitting, the American League teams aren't. Although, the Red Sox may not have it too bad. They have a pretty deep bench with the surplus of outfielders they have.

I think it's coming soon. I prefer the DH, but honestly, I wouldn't care which way they go, I just think both leagues need to be on the same page.
