Miley for Rubby and Webster is a good deal, but we need a 1 and a 2.

I'd be surprised... scratch that... completely shocked if Miley is the best arm we acquire this off-season. I have absolutely ZERO doubt that this is but a precursor to bigger moves the Sox FO had in mind when they were waiting on Lester's decision. I suspect we'll see a move to sign Shields and they'll go hard to get Hamels as well, especially since the Phillies have finally relented and decided to blow up their s*** ass team like they should've done ages ago.

A rotation of Hamels, Shields, Miley, Buch, and Kelly to start the season would be pretty damn nice IMO. Combined with our lineup, I'd say we'd be back on track in a hurry.

Miley had a 0.8 WAR via ESPN with a 1.4 WHIP and greater than 20HR allowed each season. While Chase field might be a hitters park, a lefty moving to Fenway is definitely a downgrade in that respect for his numbers. He pitched to a 4.4 ERA in Arizona without the DH. My guess is this guy has a bad season and six fans want him gone immediately. Also, why deal RDLR for him? The kid had similar numbers with much more upside. Miley had Rubby on durability, but I think Rubby will be the better contributor long term. There are better, cheaper options out there

Jajajajaja

You are so funny my friend.

Miley deal will be announced Saturday for some reason.

Dodgers are sending Kemp to the Padres and I'm guessing they go and get Hamels and possibly Rollins once that is finalized.

Your use of a different WAR (whichever one is lowest depending on your argument) makes me not wanna give a s*** about anything else you say, but i'll bite. Miley has a much better track record than his 2014, and obviously than Rubby (who i still hate to see go, and whom you've been s***ing on for a while now, saying he's clearly a reliever). I'd feel much better arguing about these subjects with you if you didn't move the goalposts to be an annoying negative nelly with anything regarding the Sox.

Shields isn't happening imo.. some team is gonna jump the shark with him and its not likely to be the Sox. Latos should be top priority out of the rumored available arms.

Wade Miley! Are you kidding me. Our problems are solved now. You could have brought Bill Lee out of retirement for a lot less and probably gotten just as much out of him. Seriously. Spin it any way you want to statistically, not working with me. Just another back of the rotation filler that we gave up two kids for. Keep chucking it against the wall boys. Maybe something will stick. Dan Duquette is starting to look better and better to me.

I don't disagree but I hate to see young arms (2 in this case) go for another mid to back of the rotation guy. Smacks of panic to me. A huge glut of outfielders and we give up 2 young arms for Miley. No way that makes one bit of sense. Bring back Tim Wakefield!

Oh wait - We also gave up a third player in this exchange. Maybe another pitcher! I'm starting to get bitter and that is sad. I cheered hard for Dick Stuart and Felix Mantilla back in the 60's. I also think that Louis Tiant and Tony Oliva and maybe even Dick Allen should all be in the hof.

Miley is an upgrade. Webster was horrible when he pitched. Rubby looks to be a bullpen arm. To get a viable and young starter for them is a good get. They are still going to move Cespedes for another starter and maybe get Shields.

I still don't buy giving up any potential arms to get another potential arm when it looks like you could be dealing from strength.

How will you feel about that pitching staff if Masterson winds up in there as well? Joe Kelley looks like our "ace" to me.

You cheered back in the 60s?! I thought you were 12 based on the way you post.

Wade Miley is turning to be a very polarizing player on all the articles and forums I've read today. Put into perspective, what would Miley get if he hit free agency this year? He's a consistent starter, pitching in a hitters park, eats innings, puts up good numbers, healthy, only 28. That's probably a 60 million dollar player in this market if you compare him to guys like McCarthy and Liriano.

I'm mostly on board, but that 5.60 ERA at home this year is a big red flag. Hopefully he will be helped by an infield defense that doesn't suck.

Hopefully they sign two more guys now that Miley's here.

A Cespedes-Porcello deal sounds fair, but with Shields being the only realistic free-agent option, I'd rather see the FO come up with a trade for someone to lead the rotation.

I'm kind of convinced they'll take a gamble and offer Masterson a chance for redemption, if they manage to sign a good #1 starter.

I'd rather use Cespedes in a package deal for Latos or Cueto.

Sure, Cueto would be perfect, but Reds don't want to trade him and would just ask for too much in return, so I wouldn't bet on it.

Porcello for Cespedes is all done via mlbtr. Good trade.
Miley and Porcello have been good innings eaters although neither is an exceptional pitcher. Miley has better strikeout stuff. Porcello's strikeout totals are not impressive. I wonder how his stuff will play in a smaller ballpark.

The additions have at least stabilized the rotation imo. Still needs work but they could go with what they have and look to add at the deadline if they are contending. The group has upside, but also could turn into a grease fire.

Just saw 2 more players are going to Detroit. I'm a bit worried but figured like some have said before it was gonna cost a little extra to make up for not being able to get a comp pick if Cespedes walks.

Looking, haven't seen anything yet. I would guess it's no one big. Bradley wouldn't be surprising. Someone they need to get off the 40 man maybe.
