One of the rare times I wholeheartedly agree with Elktonnick about something, meaning this is also one of the rare times where he is actually right about something.

What's up with you? Now I'm confused. You sneaking over to the dark side just doesn't seem right.

I don't totally disagree with your point of view. What I've seen out of Henry and his front office is that the underestimate human factors in their decision making.

i agree.

In contrast there is Jose Eglasias.

He made his transition work. Like going to English as a second language lessons. He was proactive in his cultural assimilation.

I'm not saying that Castillo is a bust. It is too early to pin that on him.

But so far he has been a disappointment. And at his age, the clock is ticking.

Yup, and Iglesias was 8 years younger and played two years in the minors.

Rusney has been a minor disappointment in a season full of them.

You don't know if he is a bust. But the guy did get in a couple of months last year, had a full ST and started the year out in the minors. It isn't like he jumped off the boat, threw on the jersey and took CF in Fenway. He has had his time. And he isn't 22 like Puig or younger with Iglesias. This is a man now who should be at his peak. He has shown regression rather than progression. Not too late to turn it on, of course, but I think this one might not have the brains to make it here.

Iglesias was also being paid only about $2 million a year by us-it was a total commitment of $10 or $12 million I think.

With Rusney we're talking about a $72 million investment.

I'm just f***ing around because I like messing with him, but he's right.

Look, I did the whole "go and live in the US" thing from a tropical island, and assimilated it seamlessly. Some people didn't. I dated a girl for a while that was part of the scholarship program as well before I came back and she hates it there, can't handle the weather, etc etc etc. It depends on the individual. She'd been there for over a year and dreaded the three she had left.

It's too early to call the guy a bust either ways.

She really just hated all our freedom, didn't she???

She had an eagle tattooed on her forearm......but with hair on it. A f*** you to Americans everywhere.

Don't be ridiculous. Eagles don't have hair. Those are called pigeons.

She was going to draw a turban on it too, but that may have been a little bit too much.

It's a big investment and a lot of money if he does end up being a bust. However, if he ends up being the player that most scouts thought he would be, he could end up being a relative bargain. Either way, it's too soon to call him a bust, and too soon to give up on him.

I just want to know if the DR is worth a trip - never been there. Been close but not there.

Playing baseball has nothing to do with speaking the local language, or understanding how to tip, or figuring out the train station. Playing on the diamond is playing on the diamond. I in no way agree him moving to the USA and having difficulty dealing with the change makes him not know how to play outfield.

On the other hand..... not playing for more than a year might mess up your timing........... but not your instincts.

He should have had a year in AAA....... there was no reason to bring him up.........

If you're going to a beach resort or one of the big cities with a tour guide. Otherwise skip.

You're falling into the same trap the Sox seem to have fallen into a couple times in the past. Players are not robots, they are people, and a lot of the problems they have outside the baseball diamond make their way into it.

Sure, people learn at different rates. Sure, he may be a success next year. People adapt at different rates, sure.

But he showed very little baseball instincts so far.

And I've lived in different countries and moved around a bit. The one thing that isn't different in another country is the game on the field.

He had a long long time he didn't play ball. He has raw power and skill. He may start hitting the ball like Hanley, and we would forget about his non instinct baseball mind. But that looks a way off right now.....

Rusney at this point reminds me of Wily Mo Pena, the comparison is not the power.......but the ability. They both have all the gifts in the world, WMP was never able to figure it out, and it appears Rusney is heading down a similar path.

In fairness, he was out of the game completely for almost 2 years I believe (correct me if Im wrong). He is 28, but with the professional experience of a 26 year old.....and even that must be scaled back, because he has only been in the states for 1.5 years.

He SHOULD be in AA at this point in a normal career path......he is instead learning on the fly in the MLB.

Lol. Interesting comparison. I think that Wily Mo has been playing in Mexico. Or at least was playing there.

The Riu resort in Puerto Plata was very nice.

And they had guided tours to the city and the boonies, if you wanted.

I imagine most of the resorts do the same.

I was just at one in Bavaro and it was f***ing terrible. I've been to the Riu complex and it is the tits. Not too pricey either.

Dominican tits.

I like the idea.

Well, the beaches are topless. LOL

But, the resorts are mostly filled with Europeans and Canadians.

And most of the topless women are the ones you'd rather not see topless. ;)

I just don't get what all the fuss is about women's breasts. LOL

Women should be able to go shirtless where ever guys can. ;)
