Reynolds is correct for the first time of his life.

No, he's not. Remember the call on the Galarraga near-perfecto? That's the worst call in MLB history and will forever remain so.

Darvish ERA vs the Red Sox close to 6, put up a touch down on him.

I liked the thought. But this game will really f*** you up LOL

What a way to end my otherwise amazing night. I've only seen the error three times, but I think it's the right call, and keep in mind that I'm an umpire now.

Really? Wow. How's that going? What training did they give you?

Also, umpires don't care about hits vs errors. That's the scorekeeper's job.

I just want to point out that over 108 innings in 2013, Buchholz had a 1.74 ERA. In 2014, he ALREADY has allowed more runs than 2013. Something is not right with him, and he is the kind of pitcher that needs his health to be perfect to pitch effectively. It is time to put him on the DL, and let him figure things out.

Rough loss, but hopefully the team all saved their worst performances for the same game. Hopefully the path to .500 won't be so tough the next time.

It's been going well. I've only done 1 game since I'm playing for the school team as well, but it was not controversial at all. No screaming parents or coaches.

My point on this play is that I would have called that an error. Anytime a fly ball lands and a fielder had a great shot at it, I consider it an error.

Buchholz's precipitous fall off in performance is one of the major reasons for the difference between 2013 and 2014 Red Sox. Last year, Buch was almost a sure thing for the first couple of months of the season. Couple that with lester's turnaround and set the 2013 Red Sox on a very hot start.

Buchholz is one of the big differences from 2013, no question.

But how about this: we're averaging 4.03 runs per game, compared to 5.27 last year. 1.24 runs a game less.

4.03 runs a game! That's third worst in the league.

We're being outscored by Seattle so far.

No doubt this team looks bad at the plate. I know Bogie is reportedly a warm weather ballplayer so I do expect him to get bettter. WMB and Jackie Bradley are the head scratchers. I am beginning to wonder whether Bradley can hit ML pitching. The question is how much longer will Cherrington continue to go with him starting. If he hasn't begun to turn it around by the middle of June and Nava continues to do well in Pawtucket then I suspect they'll send him down.

Three months is not nearly enough time to figure out whether someone can consistently hit ML pitching. Are you serious with this s***?

Nava would be an absolute disaster in CF.

Noticed the consistency with what J_E was complaining about? Dude only shows up when the team looks embarrassingly bad to either whine, psychoanalyze the team or come up with senseless solutions. Oy vey.

You haven't been paying attention to the Sox roster over the past two years. Nava would be brought up to play left or right, as he did last year. Sizemore would play n center that's why the Sox signed him as insurance. Major league clubs usually feel one can tell how a team will perform after fifty games. It is becoming obvious that Bradley hasn't shown that he can adjust to Major League pitching. The Sox will do the same thing to him that they did to WMB last year if he continues to fail at the plate the way he has to date, they will send him down and call up Nava, assuming he continues to hit in triple A. The sox need another bat if they wish to contend this year. They are probably looking now. Edited by Elktonnick

Sizemore is almost as bad as Nava in CF, and he hasn't hit that well.

Sizemore before was injured was among the best centerfielders in baseball. Yes he is not the player he was but he still is a very good defensive ballplayer. Bradley on the hand looks so bad at the plate I believe the Sox aren't helping his development by his continued failure to hit in the Major leagues.

The idea that Bradley is somehow showing that he can not or will not be able to hit MLB pitching is premature and off target. And sending him down to AAA now would serve no purpose. I always think of Pedroia when I read nonsense like this. He was a disaster at the plate his first spring in MLB. Somehow he "learned how to hit big league pitching" while playing in the majors.

Imagine that????

And regardless what advanced defensive metric may indicate, Bradley is by far the Sox best defensive outfielder.

Oye.

I don't need metrics to convince me that Victorino is an exceptional OFer. I watched a lot of him when he was with the Phillies. If the metrics show that he is the better OFer, the metrics are just confirming what I already knew.

Ted I was not saying Victorino is not good!!! He's the second best RF in my fandom of the Sox.

I just think that JBJ is very good too.

Yes, he is very good. I just took issue with the statement that he is by far the best defensive OFer on the Sox. I don't agree with that.
