This grinds me...I get money down on the f***ing world champs vs. THIS f***ing Yankee team and lose 3 out of 4? What kind of justice is that after last October?

Not having Middlebrooks who runs into a HR every 4 or 5 games hurts us when we can't string together hits. One swing from him changes everything.

No excuse losing 3 of 4 to the mediocre Yankees. The injury to Vic has really hurt them. Middlebrooks, too. Now Pedey and Koji?

You wonder about their conditioning in ST. They never seem to start fast in April.

They have played like a 5-8 team. This is not about them having bad luck.

Quite on the money d. We look like s***, sorry to say. We don't hit in the clutch, we have no speed in the lineup to put pressure on the opposition and we strike out too damn much. What's more, Farrell still seems unable to pick a batting order and stick to it. Of course now we may lose Pedroia for awhile and that doesn't help either. As for Herrera, please guys, let's be frank. He's been exposed. If we use him and Roberts for any length of time we are deep in s***.

I am keeping my fingers crossed about Pedey. Hopefully, it is just a strain and some inflamation got in there. We can't afford to lose him. He is the sparkplug for our offense.

No you don't wonder about their conditioning in ST. This is a stupid premise.

Grasping at straws, I love it. Maybe, just maybe, the Yankees are better than you thought?

Now I know why you've been hanging around a Red Sox forum for almost 8 years. Because you're such an insufferable douchebag even yankee fans don't want you around. There's 5+ months left to play so get off your high horse.

Report: Pedroia should be OK

Posted by Gary Dzen, Boston.com Staff April 14, 2014 02:32 PM

Dustin Pedroia's left wrist injury is still being checked out in Boston, but the Sox second baseman's injury does not appear serious, a source tells the Globe's Peter Abraham.

Pedroia was injured during the Milwaukee series last week. He was in originally in Sunday's lineup vs. the Yankees but was scratched.

Yeah, it's early. But from the get go last yr, the sox were hot. I've said from the beginning that relying on players to repeat career seasons and near total reasonable health is not realistic. Last yr you had career seasons from regulars AND backups. You had resurgent years from starters AND relievers. Have you any idea how perfect that went for you guys? Well, you lose 3 key pieces and replace them internally and now those career year guys start out slow and you're 3 games under .500. I think the sox are still a playoff caliber team, but they're not the beasts of the east, imo

It doesn't look like there is a beast of the east. They are all struggling.

Yeah all of those DL days, losing not one, but two closers, the absolute and total suck from WMB, third of a season of injury/ineffectiveness from Drew were certainly an indication of a "perfect season". Get real. Current standings are indicative of nothing, and the Red Sox are never the beasts of anything in your opinion because you are a biased annoyance who spent most of last season quiet with the Yankees out of contention and now wants to get his digs. I suggest you get all of them in now, because it's very likely the Sox end up a better team than the Yanks and their patchwork roster, and that's what scares you.

You and I feel the same way about the Yankees if I read you right Al, but Jacko is just showing his joy over the past weekend. I can assure you that if it was the Red Sox who did the three of four I would be a lot more animated than Jackson is right now. A point I'm trying to make is that right now, this very minute, the Yankees are better than we are---hopefully not for long but we have to get our key guys back and those in the lineup and on the mound have to work in sync. That hasn't happened yet, and, what's more, Farrell has to stop dicking around with his lineup and batting orders. Pick your best nine, pick out your best batting order and go with it. He still can't seem to make up his mind.

Unless our inept medical staff has misdiagnosed this injury. Face it, they've been real good at those over the past half-dozen years. Let's hope they got it right this time around.

There's a lot of doctors on this website.

As much as I have gotten along with Jacko over the years, you hit this one right on the head............his take on our 2013 season is just one f***ed up mess.

You probably didnt think that last year at this time either so....Having said that youre not nor have you commented on the fact that this is still a rebuilding project. Unlike the Yanks, we are building for success beyond the next two seasons and that should be taken into consideration. Because we won the WS in the process doesnt change that.

I partially agree with this. I don't think we actually had very many career seasons. Obviously you're including Nava, but that was also the first time he ever had anything approaching a full season.

But I do agree that many things went right for us. To me it was like there was always a group of guys who were going well, so we never got into a real bad stretch. And overall our health was very good.

Not everything went right by any means. Maybe 75-80% of things that could go right went right. And I think that's actually a very high score when you have as much veteran talent as we had.

So far this year our score for things going right seems more like 30-40%.
