Conspiracy... conspiracy...[/QUOTe]The Yankees have had so many one-sided deadline deals that it does make me wonder if something else isn't going on. In the early 1970's they regulary fleeced the Guardians. Gabe Paul formerly of the Guardians pulled off those deals. I often wondered if their GM got cash under the table. No GM could have been consistently that stupid. Conspiracy? Stranger things have happened. I haven't trusted basketball since the case against that crooked ref. The testimony in that case called into question the integrity of the sport.

We all seem to be in a fit of some kind today, either with a fellow poster, the team, with ourselves, or just pissed off in general. I have to admit that losing three of four to the Yankees totally irritates the living s*** out of me. I don't like losing to those guys because no matter how you slice or dice it they have the better of us mano mano. I want the Red Sox to be the ones to beat the s*** out of the Yankees, not vice versa. We still owe them a couple of decades worth of beatings.
At this time the Yankee roster has a ton of problems. We should have pummeled them this weekend and we didn't. Yep Fred, that made it very irritating.

Contrary to anti-conspiracy theorists, I believe conspiracies do exist in some cases. So don't a lot of Americans, about 70% or so think JFK's murder was a conspiracy. Why? Because of strong motives disclosed later after the Warren Report. There's always a good reason for everything.

Here's another "conspiracy theory": The Yankees engineered the sale of the old Philly As to a group which moved them to KC in the early 50s--over a group that wanted to keep them in Philly. For quite a few years thereafter, the KC As were known as the "Yankee farm system", funneling some of their best players to NY (Roger Maris & Bob Cerv come to mind).

How much power do the Yankees have today? Enough, in my view, to turn MLB and the NY based network media (CBS, for example) against ARod to help the Yankees unload his salary--or as much of it as they could get away with. Sure, ARod was a cheater, in NY and in Texas, but so was Bonds, Braun, Clemens, etc, who never got penalized like ARod. And ARod never failed a test. MLB's informant told the world on 60 minutes that their testing was useless--easily circumvented by timing dosages. Yet the media has never pointed this out in all the controversy.

We live in an age where cable TV controls sports--at least the major sports. They pretty much make up the schedules for the TV sports, and that includes college football and probably basketball. I recall reading an article in the NY Times about this. Ever notice how the NY teams get on network TV all the time? Well, that's by design. NY is the biggest TV market (about 16%) and so commands the highest advertising rates. It's about advertising.Between ESPN and MLB network, at least half their games involve NY or LA teams (about 25% of the market) with the Yankees getting the lion's share. You don't think there is media pressure on the Yankees to make the playoffs? You better believe it. Steinbrenner forked up a lot of dough to do it.

It isn't surprising to me that the umpires the other night couldn't come up with a view of a play that cost the Red Sox a game in Yankee stadium. I haven't seen the Yankees lose a close call in Yankee stadium in years. And it's a wonder the league allowed them to build another stadium with that ridiculous RF porch that has given them such an advantage over the years. It really has been the key to the history of the Yankees since Ruth.

Hey, nothing against NY fans. Cripes, they can't even watch their team on network TV, as NYC is usually blacked out for their games on the networks. But they have to realize that the Yankees don't play on a level playing field, with their money and market advantage, which is why many fans of other teams hate their guts. Nothing personal against the Yankee players, mind you. Quite the contrary. :)

It is no secret that the Yankees practically used the KC franchise as a farm team.

What are your views on the validity of the moon landing and the fluoridation of the water supply?

Huge holes on the roster, but MLB and Yankees are part of the Illuminati. They have a Rothschild on the team.

There's a 95% chance that the moon landing was real.

The water supply stuff is iffy. No good reason to put a lot of the crap that gets put in our water in there.

UFOs are real. George H.W. Bush basically admitted it. Aliens are probably real due to the sightings before we had aircraft technology, plus a TON of modern evidence.

There is a 70% chance that 9/11 was an inside job, and a 98% chance that the government was trying to cover at least something up.

The government is likely trying to take away our firearms so they can safely create a police state without revolution. Camps that resemble concentration camps are already being built. Supposedly, these are to house people in the event of a natural disaster, but if so, then why are the fences slanting in, and have barbed wire?

There is a 1% chance that some politicians and media members are reptilian aliens in disguise. There was a moment on live TV (I think a politics show) where a news man actually hissed reflexively out of nowhere.

HAARP research facility in Alaska was doing some really sketchy stuff.

The government will attempt to mandate that every infant get implanted with a GPS tracking device to "keep everyone safe". Almost anything is possible to brainwash the public into accepting with proper use of the slippery slope. First, the media will have stories about mothers choosing to implant their children to "make sure they don't get lost". Then, a health care reform will make hospitals provide implantation as an option. Then, after it gains popularity, the government will be like "well, might as well mandate it". When it gets mandated, the chip location will get moved from somewhere removable like the arm to somewhere permanent such as the head. Bam; everyone is now in Big Brother's system and permanently on the grid.

There could be a long-term plot to make the whole world one country. First, the US has to make its government similar to all the other governments to make it compatible. But more importantly, a more powerful UN could just police the whole world and protest anything it doesn't agree with, effectively becoming in charge of the world. A one-world currency will be proposed to make the merging of countries easier. The US is already considering making its money look similar to Canada's; this could be the first step in a very gradual one-world-currency con.

The annual Bilderberg meetings are a FACT. It's just that we don't know what they talk about. These are meetings where leaders, businessmen, media members etc from all around the world discuss world issues. I really don't like the most powerful people in the world making sure they're all on the same page with things. Perfect way to set up the NWO.

Jesus Christ SoxSport, did you watch the 2004 playoffs or not. I'm not saying the Yankees don't get any favoritism, but I also don't think the umps are a bunch of crooks.

They reversed the A-Rod slap play without seeing any replays, the second reversal of the game in our favor. That play could have screwed us forever, but the umps fixed it, to the slight dismay of the Yankee crowd, you may recall.

I assume that's one of those pesky facts that gets in the way of your good story.

It was precisely because of the Yankees prior history that those reversed calls were so momentous. They reversed not just one but 2 calls. In my long memory, I can't remember a single other instance where that happened to the Yankees. I can think of number of bad calls that went their way in big games. Soxsport mentioned Jeffrey Maier's interference with Derek Jeter's fly ball that was ruled a Home Run. I remember Reggie Jackson in the World Series against the Dodgers deliberately remaining in the base path after being forced out at second ond base and obviously sticking his hip out to deflect the DP relay to first base that would have ended the inning.
