If the maths are right you are 49... The funny part is that you are saying to Ted that he is an old man? Oh boy LOL!

I am glad that I am Matthau. He was the fun one-- a sports fan and a gambler. Which Golden Girl would you want tobe?

Probably, Lupita D'Alessio, "la leona dormida".

Yeah, you both are still young. I just find out funny that she called you old man and she is contemporary as well.

Probably Fred is not contemporary but with a heart of a young guy. He is a great guy.

I'm far too young to be a Golden Girl silly.

I never tell my buds to stop because they behave civil and talk about baseball. I can't say the same about your boyfriends.

A la Ure-*******... You have reading comprehension problems. When I said you both, I meant YOU and Ted.

But that's ok Lupita D'Alessio, probably it is the menopause, which is an effect of some women of your age.

No on that. I'm the old man of the crowd but I would prefer to be called The Dean just on age alone. At least so far I've some humorous retorts. Can be just call it a truce and move on. Baseball is creeping up on us thank God and that I what I feel we should be zeroing in on.

Thank you my friend......and some wonder why you, 700 and I are buds. How about mutual respect and a genuine liking for one another.

1986 was also Rich Gedman's last good year. The rest of his career was derailed due to injuries and ownership collusion.

Fun trivia question - What unbreakable record did Dwight Evans set that season? (Hint: Daniel Nava set an unbreakable record in sort of that same spirit).

HR on first pitch of the season. I too have the 1987 Topps Record Breaker card.

LOL - here is the thing. I feel a700 bitterness on one level. But it's the team and season that made me a Sox fan. And honestly, after 2004 - it is hard to get THAT bitter anymore.

The 86 team was the best Red Sox team of my childhood. They were pretty good on RBI Baseball too! The 03, 04 and 07 teams were probably better though.

Clemens-Hurst-Boyd-Nipper was probably the best rotation - I'd give Boyd-Nipper the edge over Wakefield-Lowe and Schilling-Pedro 2004 vs Clemens-Hurst was closer than it seems. 1986 bullpen depth was not bad - Schiraldi was great until his meltdown ... but I'd rather have the Timlin-Embree-Foulke or Tazawa-Breslow-Uehara back of the bullpen. The 2003 lineup (with Varitek hitting 27 homeruns as a #9 hitter! And Bill Mueller winning the batting title from the #8 spot) is the best Red Sox lineup I've ever seen. In 2004 - replacing Walker with Bellhorn, and one of Damon's worst seasons with his best, offset by dropoffs from Varitek, I'm not sure where you compare 2004 and 2003. It's pretty close.

Nipper was terrible. The disappointment was that Seaver who was acquired during the season injured his knee ending his career. He coud still pitch and was pitching well for us until the knee gave out. He was much better than Nipper.

2003 team should have won it all. It's an excellent example of how much impact a manager has on the game for those who say they have none.

Well, it talks to the single area where the manager can impact a game the most - the deployment of personnel, especially managing a bullpen. I think those who say they have "none" say it as a response to the sound and fury of things like sacrifices and hit and runs signifying nothing.

Best Offense - 03

Best Starters - 86 (only because of Hurst and Clemens being so dominant)

Best Bullpen - 13

Best Overall - 04 (solid rotation, great bullpen, offense full of mashers)

03's bullpen left something to be desired.

The 2003 edition scored more runs, and had a better wOBA, wRC+ and OPS+. They're close, but the 2003 offense was better. They were both historically bad (2004 even more so) on defense.

I'm an *******? I have reading comprehension problems? I am not menopausal yet plus that's an accusation that 700 has hurled at me over 50 times. Not orginal, accurate or funny... kinda like your posts. Calm down young pup. It'll be ok.

Of course I had to Google Lupita D'Alessio and I'm missing your comparison of me to her. She's 10 yrs older, looks over-weight, has short red hair. I'm 10 years younger, not over-weight and have long brownish hair. Oh and I've only been married once.

Just another failed attempt at humor by you, I suppose.

LOL! Oh boy!

1. I didn't call you an *******. I said "a la Ure-******* = U?". LOL.

2. I said "PROBABLY" it is the menopausal, IDK. I said that because some women with menopause act agressive/irritant, and considering your age it could be the cause -- not because Ted--, since you are acting a bit aggressive calling some of us with funny names. Still, There's nothing wrong for a woman been in that situation.

3. ...and about "la Leona dormida" LOL! I'm not saying that you are at her age or something, I'm saying that you are acting like Her. But that was a joke just like you did calling me pup or whatever.

4. Said that, Can we drop this?
