Navarro to the Blue Jays. Catching is the one area that seems to be going very quickly right now in the free agent market... hope the Red Sox figure out their plan quickly.

The way I see it Palodios, it is either Hannigan from Cincy, resigning Satalamacchia or finally giving Lavarnway his shot to show what he can do. If we trade it will cost us prospects and everyone knows that they are more valuable than even and teams are doing all they can to stockpile draft choices and hold onto their young players. I know Pierzynski is available but he is a hothead, and most likely would not fit in our clubhouse. Anyway, that's how it looks to me right now.

Wha...what?

The players coming back just don't make sense. The Nationals give up their #5 prospect, a 2B/OF who has a career .650 OPS, and a rookie reliever with a 4.00 ERA.

Fister meanwhile is a cost-controller starter who has averaged 4.3 fWAR over the last three years.

The Tigers must be getting ready to sign Scherzer to a long term deal, because it seems like they just traded a 7 million dollar mid rotation arm for very little.

I'd say even better than mid-rotation. Fister had an ERA+ of 128 with Detroit. That's at least a #2 on most teams.

....in 200+ IP. That's not #2 on most teams, that's a #1 on most teams. Baltimore, Minny, Milwaukee, Colorado, Florida, Toronto, and i may be missing some.

Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post (on Twitter) hears that Salty is headed to the Marlins.

From the top team in baseball to close to the worst.....Wise move Salty, you f***ing loser.

I'll bet he is crying all the way to the bank.

Without a strong supporting cast, Salty should do terribly oin Miami. All of his shortcomings will be magnified.

Yeah, how do you think he translates to that park...

Not well unles they bring in the fences. It seems that you have to crush the ball to get it out of that place.

3/22 to the worst team in baseball. Feeling glad the Red Sox didn't offer him the QO.

Technically, Houston is the worst team. But anyway - an absolute lock that there's no way he plays out the entire contract in Miami.

Miami has the edge because of the black mark they put on baseball last year. Shameful ownership.

The Phillies are trying to trade Jonathan Papelbon, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports (on Twitter). The Phillies could move the right-hander, who is set to earn $13MM in each of the next two seasons, and look to sign a more affordable closer, Rosenthal adds in a second tweet. Papelbon's deal also has a $13MM vesting option for the 2016 season that triggers if he finishes 55 games in 2015 or 100 games between 2014-15. Jim Salisbury of CSN Philly adds (via Rosenthal) that Papelbon's no-trade protection allows him to select 12 teams to which he will approve a deal

Most of the big FA have signed before the winter meeting, this is what happen when the Yankees goes mad every other year. I suppose the next part now is the trading period.

Are you talking about Bauer? If so, he was traded for Didi Gregorious, Lars Anderson and Tony Sipp, none of whom play the OF.

I don't know what shocks me more... my complete stupidity today, or the the fact that they traded Bauer and weren't the team in the trade who received Choo.
