I wasn't aware of this mojo rule. Are people saying that it is bad mojo to start a GT on an off day? He has the right date on it, so I don't get it. I thought the mojo was limited to the thread starter. We are adding mojo rules? I understand that BTR starts all of his GTs typing with only the pinky finger of his left hand while sitting on the left side of his couch and petting a kitty with his right hand. In the future, ever GT starter should conform to this ritual to maintain the mojo. ;) If you don't have a cat, it will have to suffice that you pet a picture of VA's cat Yaz. Are we all straight on this? The season is on the line.

No rule but BTR, Forsyth, User Name, and myself have good records this season. We just wanted to rotate until the end of the season because of our success. It's no big deal really, I just thought everyone was on the same page on the rotation. The fact this is actually an issue is hilarious to me.

All signs point towards the sox losing this game as Buch hasn't been sharp in his rehab, it's his first start back in a house of horrors in Tampa and you're facing a perennial CY contender in Price (although he wont be in the discussion this yr due to injury). That being said, the sox defy the hell out of logic, so they'll probably win 11-0 and Buch will throw a no-no

The Sox definitely defy the hell out of your brand of logic...

I was about to post this ad verbatim. Well said.

Oh I see, the 4 of you were commandeering the GTs. LOL! At least I just call myself King. I don't make any rules. Be damned the 4 of you and your arbitrary dictates. ;). And when I speak of UN, I stress the first half of that word. Long live J_E's mojo, and as soon as he falls, I will be making a GT.

Pitching matchups for the Rays series

Posted by Peter Abraham, Globe Staff September 10, 2013 11:43 AM

Tuesday: RHP Clay Buchholz (9-0, 1.71) vs. LHP David Price (8-7, 3.51), 7:10 p.m., NESN, MLB Network.

Wednesday: RHP Ryan Dempster (8-9, 4.79) vs. RHP Alex Cobb (8-3, 2.99), 7:10 p.m., NESN, ESPN.

Thursday: RHP Jake Peavy (3-1, 3.55; 11-5, 4.01 overall) vs. RHP Jeremy Hellickson (11-8, 5.04), 7:10 p.m., NESN, MLB Network.

--------------------

Thank God they are all Nationally televised since I probably won't have the choice of the NESN feed. Rays announcer's blow!

Line opened at +121, and has moved to +133. 69% of the public is backing the Red Sox. There's some huge bets being put on the Rays.

I have no idea how to play this game. I don't feel comfortable backing Buchholz. I like the over tonight at 7.

Price is going to be a solidly unremarkable game. Buch will go 5.1, give up two runs, but leave with a lead. The Sox bullpen will be spotless.

Sox 5

Rays 2

Sox take 2 of 3

Ellsbury limps to the plate in the 9th to pinch hit with the bases loaded. He calmly deposits a meatball from Rodney into the right field bleachers, gimps around the bases, then goes out to the mound to grab a distraught Rodney's head, stuffs it between his ass cheeks, and farts right in his face, then runs off the mound, laughing hysterically, Family Guy style. Castiglione's call is "Ellsbury craps his pants, right in Fernando Rodney's face! Can you believe it!"

Remy also comes out of hiding to broadcast the ninth inning on NESN, but he and Orsillo bungle the call when they're too busy wheezing and laughing at someone's nachos instead of paying attention to what's happening on the diamond.

We've struggled this year vs Price. His last start vs the Angels wasn't good. Hopefully he stays that way. Not sure how to feel on Buchholz, but getting this win tonight would be fantastic.

He's 2-2 this year against the Sox and got booted in the 3rd inning of his second start.

He'll be 2-3 after tonight!

Game time: 7:10 p.m.

TV/radio: NESN, MLB Network / WEEI.

Red Sox vs. Price: Pedroia 12-42, Ortiz 8-34, Ellsbury 7-34, Napoli 8-27, Nava 1-18, Victorino 4-17, Gomes 3-17, McDonald 3-14, Salty 1-12, Middlebrooks 5-10, Lavarnway 2-9, Drew 0-7, Snyder 2-6, Ross 2-5, Berry 0-2.

Rays vs. Buchholz: Zobrist 4-34, Scott 7-32, Longoria 7-32, Joyce 6-21, Molina 7-20, Escobar 3-15, Jennings 3-15, Johnson 1-10, DeJesus 3-9, Rodriguez 3-10, Young 1-9, Loney 0-4, Fuld 1-4, Gimenez 0-3.

Stat of the Day: Pedroia has played in 1,000 games and has 283 doubles. The only players with more doubles through 1,000 career games were Joe Medwick (324), Hank Greenberg (304), Al Simmons (291), Nomar Garciaparra (289), Chick Hafey (288), and Todd Helton (287). Medwick, Greenberg, Simmons, and Hafey are all in the Hall of Fame.

Notes: Buchholz is back after a 93-day absence with assorted shoulder woes. The Red Sox were 49-33 in his absence and gained six games in the standings. But Buchholz should be a boost to the rotation. The All-Star will be limited to 75-80 pitches initially but has time to build up for the postseason. Buchholz is 6-5, 2.53 in 15 career starts against the Rays, 3-3, 2.48 in eight starts at Tropicana Field ... Price is 2-1, 2.55 in four starts against the Red Sox this season, 10-5, 2.98 in 19 career starts. Price was hit hard (14 IP, 17 H, 9 ER) in two starts on Tampa Bay's recent 3-7 West Coast trip ... The Rays have lost 11 of 15 ... The Sox have won five of six and eight of 10. They start the day with a three-game lead on Oakland for the best record in the league ... The Sox are 10-6 against the Rays this season ... Napoli is 18 of 45 (.400) over his last 13 games with 10 extra-base hits, 16 RBIs and eight walks ... Ortiz is 8 of his last 22 with eight runs, six extra-base hits, and five RBIs.

Song of the Day: "Welcome Back" by Mase.

Thought he was 2-1?

Edit:No you're right. I forgot about the game in April. The game we kicked his ass in, he went to the DL right after and didn't come back until a month and half later.

A kicked ass takes a while to recover from.

I am not going to post the lineup, but it is interesting to see Pedroia batting leadoff with Victorino playing. IIRC, Pedroia does not like to bat leadoff. If anything, why not have Victorino leadoff and have Pedroia bat second?

Drew over Bogaerts against a left hander?

Farrell's trying to screw my mojo.

What, you think Farrell would actually not play Drew against one of the toughest LHP in the game?? What are you, crazy??

Posted
I would have started Bogaerts, Bradley, and Ross over Drew, Nava, and Saltalamacchia. This is almost like a spring training game, so I guess I don't care that much.
