Well either the Sox will lose and learn a lesson or win. They have had very few bad AB's tonight but the ones that have been bad have been really bad and every one of them has hurt so far.

Nothing I like more than debates about comparative biology and animal sociology in Gamethreads. Hey, does anyone here dabble in marine biology or mycology? I'd love to discuss that sometime?

Or, you know, maybe we could discuss the game. How the hell you people can turn a scientific discussion into a bad-tempered argument is beyond me. Just stop.

We're all friends here. It's what friends do. We talk about different crap. This thread would be pretty lame if it was just all of us complaining about the s***** so far game tonight.

In 2011 Lackey got 6.09 runs per game support, enabling him to post a 12-12 record with a 6.41 ERA. The lucky s*** evens out in this wacky game.

"John your fantastic pitching has left us no choice but to leave you off the post season roster.... You see we are going to need offense.."

How about giving them something to strive for? When i was a kid, I could perform all the athletic tests at the highest level except I couldn't do 2 pullups, so I got nothing. It pissed me off, and it motivated me to train myself to do pullups. My Dad gave me some training tips and the next year I was able to do more than the minimum of 2. I did enough to reach the highest award level. I think it was 7 to reach what they called it the Presidential level. I can still remember the pride that I felt from overcoming that hurdle. If I got an award without doing the pullups, I never would have pushed myself.

I'm speaking strictly in terms of small children. It's T-ball. They're like 6 years old and playing for fun with their friends. It's not about winning and losing at that point. I don't plan on having kids but if I did, I wouldn't want to make them upset like that. There's a time for incentive and something to strive for, of course, but I don't think a little kid's little league games are the place for it. Just let them play for fun and then give them a nice shiny trophy to keep at the end of the season.

One of the many reasons.
Agreed again. Three in a row. There is no birth right to success in this country and no one should give anyone anything. If you have to earn success, it rings out the best in peple and you appreciate the accomplishment.

I guess I have a new found appreciation for you VA after learning that you broke a bunch of bones competing and mixing it up with your brothers.

Yes, but this s*** happens every day. Even when the Sox are winning.

I don't think it's a problem so long as everyone is respectful. But you're the mod and it's your call when it's all said and done.

No one plans on having kids anymore, and with things like what's going on in Syria right now I have lost my will to argue with them. Anyway, Sox climb on top right here.

Much less likely that we would be here as a species without competition.

What evidence is this based on? Early humans were groups of band societies that certainly worked together.
