I'm speaking strictly in terms of small children. It's T-ball. They're like 6 years old and playing for fun with their friends. It's not about winning and losing at that point. I don't plan on having kids but if I did, I wouldn't want to make them upset like that. There's a time for incentive and something to strive for, of course, but I don't think a little kid's little league games are the place for it. Just let them play for fun and then give them a nice shiny trophy to keep at the end of the season.

I don't think kids that age should be playing organized competitive sports. They are too young and their bodies aren't ready for it. They should just play with their friends under adult supervision or instructed by adults in a clinic type setting to teach them the fundamentals.
