Considering the start I'm so happy we won the game. Tampa is losing pretty good to Arizona and now instead of worrying about getting swept we can potentially win the series and the season series (6-1) with a win tomorrow.

What's the guess on how many runs Dempster puts up tomorrow?

Doesn't matter, Dempster is the teams leader in runs support. But the bastard always pitch like s*** when they score for him.

What a picture....Maddon with those stupid glasses askew bent over the dugout being abused by a cactus.

As if the cactus's standards would be that low.

Oh come on Farrell...now you are making yourself look stupid. Now you want to tell us that because of the dome, Wright could not throw it and Lavs could not catch it? Please, let it go. It didn't work. Tell Wright and Lavs it was because of the dome to boost their spirits. Don't tell us that.

Protecting players - that's fine. Tough job for Lavarnway - although he also failed robustly. Wright's stuff had movement - clearly too much for the catcher to handle. That Lavarnway has proven unable to really hit like the monstah he showed in 2011 is tough - hard to see a real big league regular there.

Just bought his shirt on Yawkey Way two days ago :(

You're probably right, though

"You all" was perhaps a little too general. I wasn't talking about you. I just meant that the Sox are in the midst of extending their lead after taking the lead on a game in which a spot starter struggled, and everyone can't just be happy with this? Complain about the starter and Napoli later. Live in the moment! The Sox are winning!

^ This. Game Threads have become unbearable due to the constant bitching and negativity. The Red Sox are doing better than any of us imagined prior to the start of the season. They've had 11 walk offs this season. Stop whining in the early innings and overall and enjoy the ride folks!

It has been a very exciting season thus far, and the team has performed well beyond any expert's expectations (except for SFF). The FO did the right thing and got a big reinforcement for the rotation. The team is poised to make a run, but the damn Rays will not go away, and their pitching scares me to death. After having played this well for this long, losing the division and getting a wild cards spot will be a big let down. We have won only 1 division in 17 years, and this is looking like our year with the Yankees collapsing.

From here on out, games will be very tense. Every play and every managerial decision will be under the microscope, and that's the way it should be. Red Sox Nation is intense and we have something to root for. Last year, game threads were uneventful, because the team was terrible and no one cared. The only drama every night was whether the team would find a new way to lose.

From here on out, Farrell's every move will be dissected. He's had pretty much a free pass until this point. Bobby V had set the bar so low that Pedro's mannequin would have been an improvement as the manager. We have been playing very well so far so Farrell has been on a Honeymoon with the fans and press. That's going to change. The fans are drooling over the post season. Last night, Farrell made a stupid decision in starting Wright. We don't have a 10 game lead. There is no luxury to experiment. To his credit, he got Wright out of there very quickly before things got out of hand. A lot of managers hold firm to the 7 run rule. The base running mistakes will be more irritating than they were before. Umpire's calls will make our heads explode and we will want to charge the mound if anyone hits Pedroia or Ortiz. The passion is back. It's no time for being mellow. If you want mellow, root for the Angels.

Drake Britton has been a godsend so far.

Has been excellent - also a good demonstration as to how silly it is to trawl for bullpen arms and pay $3M for the Jesse Crains of the world ... instead just bring up the guys with actual cheap upside like Britton or De La Rosa, even if these are just apprenticeships before competing for a rotation position. Obviously Britton has some regression etc etc, but he clearly has quality stuff, better than most of the guys in the trade market.
