Merloni just said he thinks Bogaerts is going to be your everyday 3B in 2-3 weeks if Middlebrooks keeps this up

Well if Middlebrooks can convert to 1B, I think we can keep him around. 1B isn't exactly a strength for us.

Imagine an infield of

3b Bogaerts

SS Iglesias

2b Pedroia

1b Middlebrooks

The incredible thing about that infield would be that they are ALL homegrown players.

Hopefully Middlebrooks regains form.

I could see that infield and would be a great story all homegrown infield. But i still think Boggy a year away from being on the big

league club for good.

As far as next year id say it will be

1b Napoli (i think they resign him)

2b Peddy

SS Iggy

3b WMB

And maybe by midseason Boggy comes up and starts at SS. With Iggy being the Utility guy.

Fixed for ya! Sorry, it's a pet peeve of mine! :)

Based on what I saw from WMB yesterday in Pawtucket...if he keeps on going this way you may never see him in a Sox uni again....this year...next year...any year. Just as Lou Merloni was very surprised that WMB did not make one single adjustment while he was up this year, I am equally surprised at how little progress he appears to have made after being sent down. In a word, he is still a mess at least from what I saw.

I watch the Futures Game for a bit, to see Bogaerts. He line two hits up the middle with solid contact. Good approach both times.

Also glimpse of Cecchini taking a flyball to the warning track to left center and hit a rope to his pull side for XBH. We got two really good hitting prospect in both.

If WMB can't figure it out the Sox have two potential 3B already waiting in the wings to play third in Boston. Both Bogaerts and Cecchini have impressed with the bat and look to be on track to make the show very quickly.

I think we're looking at Bogaerts at 3B, Iglesias at SS, Pedroia at 2B, and an acquisition at 1B. Middlebrooks is struggling pretty badly at AAA ball now, and can't be counted on. Despite a BABIP of .382, Napoli has only managed an OPS of .791. I think he has more power than what he's shown, but he's been pretty disappointing so far. We dodged a bullet by not signing him to a three year deal.

Sorry, i was too busy making an actual organized list with numbers for reference.
A waste of time. After the top 10, put them in a bowl and pick out names.;)

He certainly seems to have made the appropriate adjustments at AAA, to the surprise of nobody.

From 6/23 - Yesterday: 82 PA, 71 AB, .310/.402/.535, 11 BB, 10 K, 5 HR.

For the sole purpose of showing how dominant of a run that is (i.e. - not projecting this, just putting it into terms that are easier to understand), that's a pace of 41 HR, 138 RBI, 90 BB, 82 K.

Again, not projecting him to do that. I just find it easier to understand how dominant of a run someone is on when the information is extrapolated over a full season.

I'm done defending Stephen Drew. This is the second time this season he's come off the DL too early, immediately sucked at the plate, and pushed a Gold Glove caliber shortstop out of position.

Iglesias doesn't belong at 3B, and Bogaertz doesn't belong in AAA. Those two are gifts from the baseball gods, and mother mojo will eventually get mighty angry if we waste their talents during a pennant run for a mediocre shortstop rental.

I'm fine if they think Bogaerts needs more time in AAA. But I'm also fine putting Drew on the bench, having Iggy play SS, and then moving Bogaerts to 3b with the big league club. I mean, here's what the Sox have gotten from Drew and Middlebrooks (the combo of players that Bogaerts would be replacing, in effect):

Drew: 237 ab, 54 h, 14 2b, 6 3b, 5 hr, 31 rbi, 30 bb, 71 k, 1 hbp, .228/.315/.401/.716

Middlebrooks: 203 ab, 39 h, 13 2b, 0 3b, 9 hr, 25 rbi, 9 bb, 60 k, 1 hbp, .192/.228/.389/.617

TOTAL: 440 ab, 93 h, 27 2b, 6 3b, 14 hr, 56 rbi, 39 bb, 131 k, 2 hbp, .211/.279/.395/.674

It appears pretty obvious that Bogaerts is capable of putting up at least a .211/.279/.395/.674 line in the majors.

Bogaerts went 3-3 yesterday with a walk and two doubles.

He's now hitting .273/.377/.492/.869, 8 HR, 5 2B in 37 G at AAA. As a 20 year old.

Got to wonder how much longer it's going to be before he's up.

My prediction is that the Sox bring him up in September. I am not 100% sure, but I *think* the rules regarding when a player's service time clock change for September callups, so it wouldn't hurt them in the long run. And the longer they wait to bring him up, the less time MLB pitchers have to adjust to him.

And with Iglesias slumping, I think that the main September lineup will be Drew at SS and Bogaerts at 3b, with Iglesias spelling either of them from time to time as needed.

I think Middlebrooks stays in AAA, though they may call him up in September too, just to keep him around. You never know when his power might come in handy in a pinch-hitting spot.

September call-ups don't have any separate rules for service time. At this point, I think the only thing holding Bogaerts back is that they want him to get a chance to play multiple positions so once they call him up they can get him regular playing time. If Iglesias and Drew keep sucking at the level they are, however, we could call up Bogaerts and get him at bats as the regular third baseman.

I expect Boegarts is coming up for September - but will make sure he's postseason eligible. Look at what the O's did with Machado. If he comes up, I expect he will be coming right in to start at 3B.

Ok, thanks for the correction.

I'd rather see Bogaerts at SS and Middlebrooks at 3B in September. They would give the RHd hitting a boost it needs right now. Middlebrooks is hitting with power in AAA.

It be great to see that. Is WMB getting his s*** together finally? I haven't been following closely.
