Security made her turn it inside out? What is this, communist Russia?

No, but it is society, not that it was offensive or anything.

It's not really that creative either, though, and how many Brewers fans are actually going to give Braun his chops about this? It was probably a fan of the visiting team trying to start s***, or at least that's probably what security thought.

Never thought I'd feel sympathetic for ARod, but the way that NY-based network media is ganging up on him, along with Selig and the Yankees, he's getting defending tweets from non-Yankee fans. Looks like a blatant effort by the Yankees to get ARod's contract off the books with a lifetime ban. But it appears Selig has come to realize he can only get away with an extra year tacked on--he really has no beef with ARod beyond what Braun and the other cheaters have done.

What is going on right now is a testimony to how powerful the Yankees are in MLB and the media. Voiding ARod's contract is a key to their retooling.

If the Yankees are so powerful, why aren't they getting their lifetime ban, and why has MLB allowed A-Rod to get in a game so the Yanks can't cash in on their insurance? Too much conspiracy theory stuff.

Even if all that is true about ganging up on him, he's a self-absorbed bitch. The hand slap, the Jeter ass grab, the popcorn incident, Centaur painting, the tampering with evidence when he got caught. He's a narcissistic twat, and no one should be shedding any tears for him.

But what the Yankees are doing is still the lowest of the low. They made their bed with that stupid contract (and you can bet your ass they knew he was juicing) so lie in it *******s!

I actually agree with him here. It does seem like the Yankees and MLB have been doing whatever they can to absolve the Yankees of everything they owe. Why else make an example about an over-the-hill cripple whose career is probably over anyway? Maybe the MLB was just looking for a scape-goat that absolutely no one likes, or maybe the idea is that the Yankees are good for baseball. It doesn't seem fair to give A-rod significantly more time than the other offenders.

The only entity that is on A-rod's side right now is the insurance company that the Yankees hired for his contract. The sole reason A-rod is playing tomorrow is because he forced the Yankee's hands with public comments about his health, and things could get messy with insurance fraud or some other legality.

We disagree heavily here because of the specifics of the case. A-Rod absolutely deserves a longer ban than all of the other players. Not only did he refuse to cooperate with MLB, but he was actually detrimental to their investigation. Not only that, but MLB has a ton of evidence that proves that he was actively recruiting others to buy steroids from BioGenesis. He deserves every day of that 200-game ban.

Which brings up the point: If the Yankees are so powerful, then how could their hand be forced so easily? They could have persuaded the MLB to punish him per the CBA right off the bat , or for Selig to immediately use his "Good of the game" clause. They have tried, and they have failed. Because not only are they not that powerful, but they are not as powerful as the true powerhouse in the MLB: The MLBPA.

It just seems like a strange thing to have evidence on. Refer a friend, get a free needle from Biogenesis! We just need to record you saying " I'm Alex Rodriguez, and I like recruiting my friends to steroids" on this tape recorder here. "Cooperating offenders" probably gave sworn statements, but can you really trust guys who have already lied to our faces?

As a Red Sox fan, you should know by now that the Yankees are above the rules in baseball. Gold gloves awarded to a guy who hasn't defended well in a decade. Rivera's notoriously massive strikezone. But just because they're above the rules in baseball, doesn't mean they're above law.

Yeah but most of the evidence isn't even from cooperating offenders according to reports, but rather records. Bosch kept records of everything he did regarding his clients, just in case something like this happened and, well, it happened. He has legitimate documentation and supposedly even phone recordings proving all of these allegations. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck....

I think this is a fair bit of hyperbole. Palmeiro got a GG on a year he played 1/3 of a season. Everything Greg Maddux threw that was even near the strike zone was a strike, and for Barry Bonds, anything that wasn't middle-middle was a ball. Were the Orioles, Braves and Giants also above the rules of baseball? The NY media helps make some of these players' reputations, but come on.

I am no ARod fan, but I am siding with him against MLB and the Yanks. Everyone in MLB knew what was going on with PEDs. They were complicit in the scandal, and they said nothing when the big HR years were putting fannies in the seats and increasing their profits. When the integrity of the games records took a hit a the game became a video game -type farce for hitters, they tried to close the barn door after the horse had left. The Yankees with full knowledge of ARod's shenanigans opted to re-up him to a ridiculous contract and now they are looking for any technicality to void the deal and save $100 million when he is a broken down relic. Screw them. They didn't have clean hands when they entered the deal, so they should have to make good on it.

What's the evidence that the Yankees knew about A-Rod's PED use when they re-upped his contract?

What's the evidence that they didn't? It's a safe assumption considering the cousin scandal, and some of the tidbits released regarding the biogenesis brew-ha-ha.

I obviously can't provide evidence that they didn't.

It just offends my sense of logic that the Yankees would give A-Rod a 10-year, potentially $300 million deal, with the hopes of him breaking the home run record in their uniform, knowing full well that he was a PED user.

Here's the list

Major League Baseball has agreed to suspensions with 12 players for their roles in the Biogenesis case Monday, FoxSports.com has reported.

Alex Rodriguez was expected to be served with the harshest penalty, and announcement was expected later Monday.

The players confirmed to be suspended by FoxSports.com are:

• Nelson Cruz, Texas Rangers outfielder (50 games, no appeal).

• Everth Cabrera, San Diego Padres shortstop, (50 games, no appeal).

• Jhonny Peralta, Detroit Tigers shortstop (50 games, no appeal).

• Antonio Bastardo, Philadelphia Phillies reliever (50 games, no appeal).

• Jordany Valdespin, New York Mets outfielder, (50 games, no appeal).

Also suspended are:

• Francisco Cervelli, Yankees catcher.

• Jesus Montero, Seattle Mariners catcher.

• Cesar Puello, New York Mets outfield prospect.

• Fautino De Los Santos, San Diego Padres pitching prospect.

• Sergio Escalona, Houston Astros pitching prospect.

• Fernando Martinez, New York Yankees outfield prospect.

• Jordan Norberto, free-agent pitcher.

Milwaukee outfielder Ryan Braun was the first player to reach an agreement with MLB on a suspension for his connection to the Biogenisis case. The 2011 NL MVP accepted a season-ending 65-game suspension last month.

The Yankees had said they expected Rodriguez to be accused of recruiting other athletes for the clinic, attempting to obstruct MLB's investigation and not being truthful with MLB in the past when he discussed his relationship with Dr. Anthony Galea, who pleaded guilty two years ago to a federal charge of bringing unapproved drugs into the United States from Canada.

I'm sure ARod will drop his appeal right before the final out of the WS.

"Lookitme! Lookitme!"

I always figured A-Rod would wait until Christmas Eve and have a "LeBron like decision" in an effort to upstage Christmas.

If they didn't, shame on them. For a quarter of a billion dollars, you should do better due diligence.

Well, they certainly should have suspected it at the very least. And even if they thought he was cleaner than Snow White, giving him 10 years was an act of staggering stupidity.

Commissioner Allan H. (Bud) Selig announced today that third baseman Alex Rodriguez of the New York Yankees has been suspended without pay for the remainder of the 2013 Championship Season and Postseason and the entire 2014 Championship Season for violations of the Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program and the Basic Agreement.

Rodriguez’s discipline under the Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program is based on his use and possession of numerous forms of prohibited performance-enhancing substances, including Testosterone and human Growth Hormone, over the course of multiple years. Rodriguez’s discipline under the Basic Agreement is for attempting to cover-up his violations of the Program by engaging in a course of conduct intended to obstruct and frustrate the Office of the Commissioner’s investigation. The suspension, which will become effective on Thursday, August 8th, will cover 211 Championship Season games and any 2013 Postseason games in which Rodriguez otherwise would have been eligible to play.

Under the terms of the Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program, Rodriguez’s suspension will be stayed until the completion of his appeal if Rodriguez files a grievance challenging his discipline.

Best of both worlds. Rodriguez gets his due, Yankees still on the hook for most of this season's salary (and can't recoup it via insurance claims) and everything after 2014.

By the way: Antonio Bastardo of the Phillies, Jordany Valdespin of the Mets and Sergio Escalona of the Astros also get smacked with 50-game suspensions.

To be totally honest, the only thing I care about in regards to this whole fiasco is that the Yankees don't get completely out from under that contract.

I don't think I have ever agreed so heartedly with one of your posts. Spot on in about ten different ways. Why couldn't they have suspended him in a year when he was actually benefiting from the steroids, like... oh I don't know, 2009.

I wonder if it's of any significance that of the 13 players, everyone but Braun and A-rod appear to be international.
