I think Major League Baseball would be wise to take a moment, step back, and reassess this situation before proceeding. It's humorous to me that they clearly believe this specific crusade is improving their image.

Bosch asked ARod for money and ARod turned him away and then Bosch agreed to cooperate with MLB. This seriously undercuts his credibility. Aligning themselves with a slime ball like Bosch will not help MLBs image.

Bosch already had very little credibility. MLB has much more of a case than what Bosch is saying though, as has already been pointed out.

Except there's clearly a reason as to why they went to such great lengths to secure Bosch's cooperation. I think it's fair to say that he's an integral part of their case.

He's definitely an important witness. In fact, he's probably the ultimate authority on Biogenesis. But he's also one of many witnesses and a paper trail and I think MLB is particularly interested in him because he knows what players all of the code names stand for in the documentation. And that's important so MLB knows which players to investigate more.

I expect this entire process to be a s*** show. It's quite possible MLB gets some of their suspensions upheld and some of them overturned. And I expect the appeal process to be long and dragged out. I believe they only have one arbitrator, so all of these cases will need to be heard one at at time.

MLB fired the arbitrator who decided in favor of Braun, and replaced him with someone they think will be tougher on these guys. I think most of these people will be suspended by the All-Star break.

It is going to be insanely difficult for them to suspend a player without a positive test. And even though they fired an arbiter, MLB seems to forget the point of arbitration. It is to have a completely neutral party make the final decision of a disagreement. The fact that they fired one and hired another shouldn't change the fact that the arbiter is supposed to be neutral

Word has come out from a former clinic employee that A-Rod visited the founder of the Biogenesis clinic when he was slumping during the ALCS last year.

I wonder if A-Rod is the only slumping player Bosch visited in Detroit.

What are you saying? Don't you dare suggest Miggy...

I was thinking more along the lines of the least clutch hitter in baseball, since his publicist was getting drugs from Biogenesis. Miggy wouldn't surprise me either though.

At this point, would anyone really be surprising?

When major leaguers test positive for performance-enhancing drugs, their suspensions are not announced until after their appeals are heard.

Players facing suspension in baseball’s Biogenesis scandal, however, will not necessarily receive the same level of confidentiality, according to major-league sources.

Baseball’s Joint Drug Agreement enables the sport to announce suspensions for “just cause” before the appeals process begins — if the allegations against the players previously had been made public by outside sources.

So, the Brewers’ Ryan Braun, Yankees’ Alex Rodriguez and other players linked to Biogenesis through media reports could face the embarrassment of suspensions before they ever appeal, sources said.

First-time offenders could continue playing while appealing their penalties. But, in baseball’s view, if players such as the Blue Jays’ Melky Cabrera, Athletics’ Bartolo Colon and Padres’ Yasmani Grandal are suspended as second-time offenders, they could not play during their appeals, according to the JDA.

Some players believe that baseball plans to announce suspensions the day after the All-Star break, but such an aggressive timetable might be unrealistic, sources said.

Baseball soon will finish interviewing Anthony Bosch, the founder of Biogenesis, sources said. Bosch agreed to cooperate with the sport’s investigators as part of a deal in which baseball dropped its lawsuit against him, agreed to indemnify him for any liability arising from his cooperation and provide him with personal security, according to ESPN.

The sport has yet to interview Braun, Rodriguez or any other of the bigger names who allegedly used or purchased PEDs from Biogenesis, sources said. However, some with the players’ union expect those interviews to be completed before the All-Star Game, making it possible that the suspensions could be announced after the break.

If a player files an appeal, an arbitration panel must convene a hearing no more than 20 days after the grievance is filed, according to the JDA. The agreement states that the panel chair “shall make all reasonable efforts” to make a ruling within 25 days following the opening of a hearing.

Thus, an appeal from start to finish could take approximately a month and a half.

Braun refusing to cooperate with MLB, suspensions coming after the All-Star Break.

Commissioner Bud Selig's office is expected to suspend Braun and Rodriguez, along with as many as 20 players sometime after next week's All-Star break, for their roles in the Biogenesis case, several sources told "Outside the Lines." As OTL reported, MLB started building cases against the players last month after Bosch agreed to cooperate with investigators.

The question is the length of the suspensions.

Sources said the commissioner's office was considering 100-game bans for Braun and Rodriguez, the punishment for a second offense, even though neither player was previously suspended for violating MLB's drug policy.

MLB not going to announce any decision until after the ALL-STAR game. Any one who is associated with this and is in a contract year could be effected by this. Even if the appeals last a long time teams aren't going to want anything to do with these guys.

I think the decision to wait until after the ASG is great. The ASG is all about the fans, and they really would hate to see one of their favorite players get kicked out. If they weren't kicked out, there would be an Olympic sized swimming pool of media following them around. Plus, not a whole lot of the suspected players will even be in the ASG.

If Bartolo Colon was a poster on Talksox, I would have been banned years ago for the horrible things I say about him. I hope the guy is so far banned from baseball that they won't let him go to his grandson's t-ball game.

I just can't believe how well he's doing since it's been like 5 years since he was basically kicked off our team and sent back to the DR.

PEDs have really help him.

@Pal, I feel the same way, I hate that fat piece of s***.

From the sounds of it, they don't have enough to get Cano. But it looks like ARod and Braun are about to get nailed to the wall. I just think it will be the offseason by the time this gets sorted out. This will be the first time the MLB is charging players without them having a positive test. It will be a landmark case, one that will be tied up for awhile, IMO, due to its precedence
