Andrew Miller's another candidate to be DFA'd tomorrow.

 

 

While his stats ever since we got him have been "meh" to "pretty bad" Miller's been decent enough to hold on to imo.

 

Prior to this outing he had given up 6 ER in 15 1/3 innings, and 3 of those earned were in one 1/3 inning outing (in a game we lost by 8) and the other 3 runs were in outings in April.

 

I don't think he'll ever be our best reliever, but he's done a decent job lowering walk totals and increasing strikeouts. (27:8 K/BB ratio in 15 1/3 innings coming into the game)

 

One problem that may arise is having Breslow/Morales/Miller at one time. I'd do something with Aceves or Mortenson before Miller imo.

It's nice to see insurance runs. Ortiz/Napoli/Drew with back to back to back walks after Ciriaco's 2 out single. Carp up with them still loaded.

Good game guys. It was nice to see Miller get a scoreless 9th with a couple of strikeouts. We might have a bit of a reliever logjam coming up when Morales returns, however our bullpen has been taxed by some weak starts and by playing so many games without a day off. I imagine we'd switch back to 12 pitchers when we go to Philadelphia to have the extra bench player.

He has 30 K's vs. 8 BB's in 17 innings.

 

Last year he had 51 K's and 20 BB's in 40 1/3 innings.

 

Now compare that to 369 K's and 243 BB's in 416 2/3 innings when you factor in his starts.

Yeah, we might need our better relivers coming up so it's great to give them a day off...and still win the game without them.

My guess is that they option Aceves or DFA Mort, and then when the Sox head to Philly, option Wilson and call up Bradley.

 

Right now they are rolling with 8 relievers because when WMB and Vic went down, they called up Aceves and Iggy.

Taylor Swift is awesome, and anyone in this thread who disagreed can just go eat a pile of depleted uranium.

 

The Boston Red Sox are now great at baseball.

 

SoxSport, man, can't you just be happy one day with the Sox winning without complaining about whatever isn't perfect? Today was a good day, man. A good day.

 

I am both heartened and amused by the continued absence of Divinity in Sox victory gamethreads. If he can't find something to skulk in here and pick at, maybe everyone else can, at least for one game here or there.

 

And finally, and I cannot stress this enough, BOO-YAH!

 

I think this is quickly becoming the "another nail in the coffin" or "tick another day off the calendar" of 2013. Jacko, perhaps you should wait until at least August before you start throwing around things that we can turn into mocking catchphrases. At least let us come up with our own first.

I think today is the day that Dempster returns to form. Although, I think it would be really smart to start Buch today if he can, and then bump everyone back.

 

Not only does that get Dempster the start in Philly rather than in Boston, where he'd get the pitcher rather than the DH, but it also bumps Lester from Thursday vs PHI to Friday vs NYY, and it lines Buch up for the Sunday night start in NY.
