Koji baby. Short and sweet.

I wonder if that is the first time two Japanese relievers have had saves for the same team on consecutive nights.

Buchholz goes seven innings for the eight time this year and a gutsy bunt call by Farrell results in the winning run. Victorino and Napoli got full days off as well. Good game all around.

I wish we would generate more offense. But in truth I love seeing the Sox squeak out wins...so un-Sox-like!

2 un-Sox like wins in a row. Scraping and scratching and pulling it out late. Good wins to have for sure.

Ironically, the guy that only threw I think two pitches, Alex Wilson, will get the win.

Talk about your meaningless stats.

Agreed...sort of wish Miller got it just for encouragement. Have to be impressed with what he has done. Ueh gets to enjoy getting the save.

I believe the scorer could give the W to Miller, he was the most effective reliever. There's only a few scorer that has given W to the best relievers in tie games. I seen maybe once or twice in the last 7 year. The other time was also a game against Minn.

I did not realize it was used so seldom Station. I have to admit I have not seen it used more than once. But I thought I just had not had enough opportunities. Wonder why scorers are so reluctant. Tonight would have seemed as good a place to use it as I am probably ever going to see.

Solid win, only got to see 10th inning, Buchholz look good?

Yup Clay played a good game. Most definitely gave this team a chance to win, with Clay on his game it's pretty tough for any team to beat us. 3 straight now!! Lets keep it going!

The thing that surprised me the most was the sac bunt and then the sac fly. I haven't seen those kind of fundamentals from a redsox team in some time.

When you're not hitting, you have to scratch for runs. That's scratching for runs.

Ells finally did something his last at bat, but he's a liability leading off right now. Makes a ton of outs.

With Nap in the lineup, he should bat 9th. Nava-1, Pedey-2, Ortiz-3, Nap-4. But Farrell will do Vic-1 since he likes speed at the top.

You mean like most power hitters, who usually hit clean-up in their respective teams?

If Nap has a track record for hitting clean up, he would be doing so right now.

How does that make sense? He started the season hitting cleanup. And he's not doing so right because, frankly, Ortiz is a better overall hitter.

If they drop Ellsbury from the leadoff spot, Ortiz should hit third, and Napoli cleanup. It's a no-brainer.

I think Ells would be best hitting in front of WMB. My ideal lineup would keep Ells on top, but I agree that he should move down.

Here's the best lineup I can think of:

Nava when he plays, Pedroia when Nava doesn't

Pedroia/Victorino

Ortiz

Napoli

Victorino/Gomes

Ellsbury

Middlebrooks

Drew

Napoli would do just fine as a cleanup hitter. His .829 OPS would rank 11th out of 20 players with 100 PA as a leadoff hitter and he's leading all major league hitters in pitches/PA. He's not a world beater, but he's an old school Red Sox offense grinder.

Nava looks like he is breaking out right now. He has pop and is driving in runs. He is looking to be a fixture in the lineup. He could well be their #3 hitter, Pedey moving to the 2-hole.
