Really great job...does not have his best stuff...struggling even to keep his motion consistent and has to deal with Morneau with the bases loaded...great job

There is that location again that is just death for WMB

At some point gotta' give Worley credit though. He has had that pitch starting on the outer third and finishing just off the plate all night....has gotten Pedey twice at least...I think now Will twice with it.

Usually Pedey has a chance to handle that but Pedey has been so flummoxed that he has taken half hearted swings at it.

Worley gone thank God

Ellsbury is officially bench warmer status on my Fantasy Team

His agent is trying to score Ortiz eye drops as we speak.

I'm guessing the problem is Ells, who is making too many outs at the top of the lineup. wake up, Farrell.

The problem tonight is Pedey's GDP's.

He needs to learn to take that pitch to RF.

Better to lay off of it entirely with less than two strikes. They should not try to turn him into a spray to all fields hitter IMO.

To be fair is Ells got on once we could be tied even with the DP's with the way Ortiz is swinging

What does this even mean? One of the things scouts always raved about WMB as a hitter was his ability to hit to any part of the field with power. The fact that he has problems with down-and-away sliders (like almost any RHH in the planet) doesn't mean he should stop swinging at outside stuff entirely. That makes no sense.

If he never learns to hit an outside pitch, his career is over. Not being able to use all fields is AAA s***.

I'm not sure if Victorino NEEDS the day off, but if it's just rest I'd consider pinch hitting him for Ellsbury, considering that a lefty is on the mound, the tying run is at 3rd, and Ellsbury just plain sucks.

Edit: That said, Ellsbury singles (albeit on a grounder on the first pitch) to bring in the run. Nvmd.

His back is hurt. He NEEDS the rest.

Once WMB learned to turn his hips he has become a monster with anything middle in hitting for extra bases and HR's all over the place. He did not come up to the majors even knowing how to turn on the ball. So I would have agreed had he continued as he was when he came up.

But now he has shown the ability to absolutely crush balls middle in. Look the greatest hitter that ever lived worked with a smaller strike zone...and the greatest mistake pitch hitters that ever lived worked with a smaller strike zone. Like I said, if he stayed exactly as he was when he came up, I would have agreed.

C'mon, that ball was ripped hard up the middle. Good positioning by the SS.

jung, i'm sorry, but you don't know what you're talking about in this instance, and i mean no disrespect. Every scouting report on WMB raves about his ability to hit the ball out of the park to all fields . You can't come here and tell me that all the scouting reports are wrong and he can't turn on stuff outside.

Other posters have debated you on this point, showed you spray charts and hit charts, and they all show the same thing: Although susceptible to breaking balls low and outside, WMB can turn on stuff in the outer half of the zone and send it to RF with power. You are plain wrong about this.

I'm watching via gameday so all I saw was "J-EZ singled on a grounder to CF deflected by the SS, Gomes scores."

At least we tied the game, although I have a feeling we should be winning by a decent amount at this point since we've put like a dozen people on base in 7 innings and only have 2 runs to show for it.

I guess NESN is going to do a little something to pump Vaaquez tires. He must have gone on a bit of a hitting streak in Portland. I looked about a month ago and again just now. Seems like he has lifted his average at least from earlier. The rest of his line is not so great yet but average does look better.
