Other than his big mouth, I wouldn't attach any other blame to him--he came into a no-win situation for him. He had no organizational support--Lucchino left him hanging in the breeze. He did walk away with considerable Red Sox treasure.

BV should have never been hired. Period.

In 10.1 innings, Lackey has given up only 3 runs. This team is starting to look like the real deal.

I'm lovin' it! Hope they carry this over into a great May!

Because baseball is a game of averages, we better not be in the way of the Angels when those two beasts finally awaken.

Yeah I hear what you're saying. I really think the Angels are going to go up in flames on those contracts though. The Pujols one in particular was sheer madness.

Bobby V might have been a good manager at one time. He might have even been a decent human being at one time. Staggered by his ability to swear to one thing one minute and swear to something 180* opposed the next minute. Not a good trait for running a ball club.

Too much of anything very often turns into a bad thing. At the end of the day I think too much Bobby V has actually turned out to be even too much for Bobby V himself and at least as a manager he had turned into a caricature of himself.

Every win and good thing that has happened so far is so rewarding after last year.. Part of me thinks that without last season being as terrible as it was, we wouldn't appreciate this one and the team we have as much

A700 is right though, it's back and forth like a tennis match.

I got the best advice ever on this board when you suggested I put those *******s on ignore. I went one better and put three of them on it and I feel a helluva lot better not having to deal with those miscreants. I think sooner or late my friend 700hitter will get religion and do the same to his antagonists.

EVERYONE STOP

Pretend that was yelling, since you can't actually hear me. I feel like a goddamned elementary school teacher or a parent on a road trip sometimes. I swear to God I will pull this thread over.

Youk, hire ItalianStallion as your enforcer. He knows his s*** and he reads people pretty damn well. Some people just can't get along with some others for whatever reason.

The pity is that fans with any kind of memory don't have to try hard to recall times when the Astros were one of the best franchises in the National League.

Pathetic what they have become

I think in different ways that was us from Sept., 2011 through the 2012 season. No one wants to remember that, least of all me, but we were a pathetic team last season.

Maybe you could stop fueling the fire with the "malcontents" and since you have them on ignore you could truly ignore them instead of making inflammatory comments Fred?

And most importantly Palodios we have to keep playing well. These wins count just as much now as they will in September. A win is a win anytime--and if we can build up a nice record we will be able to absorb a slump that all teams get along the line.

UN? Just posted almost exactly what I was going to post. I don't know whether to feel vindicated or disturbed.

But yes, what he said.

I don't think you've noticed, but i've been a pretty good citizen for a while now.

While hitting can be pretty streaky and a hitter can get "hot", a player isn't expected to perform at a higher level just to make up for poor prior play. Just because a coin flips heads 10 times in a row doesn't mean the 11th flip is anything other than 50/50. Yes, things average out, but the odds don't change to make up for what happened in the past.

In fact, in the '11 and '12 season Pujols had a terrible first two months of baseball and thus ended up posting the worst #s of his career. Did he return to being a great player for the rest of the season? Of course. Did he make up for his slow start by playing above his expectations? Of course not.

I mentioned no names so no one knows who I was talking about. I think from what I have been reading on this thread today there are others who would benefit by putting their antagonists on ignore as well. It would keep peace on this board.

You also have the bad habit of selective memory. I know of someone who has me on ignore and yet I have read snotty remarks by that person where my name was mentioned---and you know what???? You never said a friggin' thing about it. If you are going to be selective in who you admonish butt out of it.

Fueling the fire? Hell, I haven't felt so good on this board since I did that.

I know, but it still rankles me to agree with you on anything. I feel like Dustin Pedroia high-fiving Derek Jeter.

Hey, we can put our differences aside for the greater good, just like they did when they high-fived while playing for Team USA.

This very much overcomplicates the point.

The point: Baseball is a game of streaks, they are currently riding a bad streak. Those two very talented players, if healthy, will hit, and they will hit close to their last-three-years average.

For someone who is interested in keeping peace on the board you have an incredibly obvious need to remind everyone of why there wasn't. This entire comment, and the one before it, are perfect examples. When you put people on ignore, it's supposed to stop things from moving on. Calling people "miscreants", whether or not you use names, since everyone knows damn well what and who you mean (and I know you know we know, too), doesn't make you look like the party with the higher ground. This is a message board, keeping track of each time someone says something to or about you and trying to use it to make yourself look like an innocent wounded puppy is not going to work. Just stop talking about this. People are on ignore, there is no need whatsoever to remind all of us that you put them on ignore. Move on. And if you keep making snide comments about the people you are supposedly eager to forget, don't act surprised and offended when someone points out how hypocritical and annoying it is. I am, at this point, probably a few weeks or even days away from kicking you and about six other people off of this site so I and the other people who hate this crap don't have to listen to it anymore.

Yes, he touched Derek Jeter with bare hands. Since then he has never grown any taller. Coincidence? I THINK NOT.

I have no selective memory. No one on this board has you on ignore. For the record, i talk to several people from the site through other means and matters like this are talked about out-of-site or through PM specifically to avoid cluttering the board with discussions like this.

Read YOTN's post above, and you'll see that i'm not pulling this out of my ass. No one here is messing with you anymore, but you're calling them out. That only lends itself to create shitstorms.

He has, however, lost some hair and grown a badass beard, both marks of a true man.
