So only players from the DR change their DOB?

Your words, not mine.

I'm sure player from other countries switch their DOB to help themselves along in the signing process. But the DR has made a cottage industry of it as of late, hence my comment.

Players from all Latin countries change their DOB's. The problem is that the DR is the country spitting out ballplayers at the highest rate, and the only country with big-time MLB'ers getting caught. You made the comment, and that's how it could be interpreted.

How it could be interpreted? Yes, if you were itching for an argument and outright wanted to find an opening to start one, I'm sure you could interpret the statement that way if you really wanted to.

MSNC102 mentioned a specific player that was outright caught lying. I'd say that calling him out as if he'd singled out a nation, rather than one dude, is a stretch, UN.

Well he said "he's from Aruba not DR" meaning that since he's not from DR, he's probably not lying about his age. UN was right and not really looking for a fight from what I'm reading.

You either really hate UN or you are trying to be the white knight of TS.

I get that. Wasn't trying to make it seem like they're the only ones doing it. Just that they seem to be doing it the most.

Even with that factored in it's still a serious stretch to get from what Chief said to how UN interpreted it. There's a lot of suspicion of specifically Dominican prospects right now, it's not inappropriate to cite them in questions of age -- they're probably not the only ones doing it but they're the ones in the news right now so a cheap little throwaway line in a post intended as a half serious dig at a known issue shouldn't trigger that kind of response..

Well in that sense you are correct. They are the ones who do it the most, and it's not close.

I think one of the main reasons Iglesias got traded is the language barrier, he doesn't speak/understand english well and that hurt him mightly and ultimately led to this trade. I personally am glad Iglesias is gone. Stephen "Monkeys in the Jungle" Drew has been good defensively and good enough at the plate. He has a respectable OBP and power numbers from SS when healthy.

Monkeys in the jungle? And I think Iggy's inability to swing a baseball bat for any sort of positive outcome contributed to this deal more than his inability to speak English.

Glad you weren't the only one to be completely baffled by that post.

Stephen "Monkeys in the Jungle" Drew

Lmao, what the f*** is that even supposed to mean?

I want to think it's some sort of racist thing but Drew is white so IDK.

Why do you "want" it to be racist? That's kinda messed up. Wouldn't you rather it be a harmless reference?

Wrong choice of words. Couldn't think of a better way to put it.

Iglesias started to come back down to earth after an un-Iggy offensive start to the season. The Sox traded him with his value at the highest, and with a few prospects rated higher then him in the system who they believe are better options at SS.

Drew evokes memories of Mark Bellhorn (better defensively). Has been fairly effective at SS, but obscured by the sheer volume of strikeouts.

He is a monkey in the jungle, because Drew is a strong hearted player, like a monkey and has to survive in a tough jungle of haters (most red sox fans).

Shouldn't you be getting ready to play third base, or is that Snyder tonight?

Standing(room) ovation for that one
