I know yesterday's gamethread included something along the lines of "Come on, these are the Mariners", but that sort of thing is equally applicable today. The Oakland Athletics are only slightly less inept at hitting than Nick Punto and Brent Lillibridge, but there is absolutely no f***ing reason not to beat these guys. Everyone needs to get their s*** together and keep winning, regardless of how much Nick Punto they are forced to put up with. No mojo again today, just another reminder to win the goddamn game and turn this into a streak. The 7th Anniversary of TWF Day is in two days and I damn well better be making the gamethread for that, or I will seriously be pissed off.

Dice-K had a decent outing last time around. Hopefully he can perform well. We need to show this Parker how to hit a baseball. Please no Lillibridge in the lineup. I cannot stand to watch this guy swing the bat. He is even worse than Byrd was. Send his ass to AAA. We traded Youk because we had Middlebrooks and he wasn't producing offensively, and we get stuck with someone even worse. Why he is not in the minors blows my mind. Ells, Crawford, Pods, and Sweeney need to come back so we can get this guy off the 25 man roster.

Whoever they toss out there better win ballgames. The last bit of rope the Sox had got used up in June. There is nothing left to give as I see it. Either they win at a serious clip in July or very likely pack in the whole season including this silly assed WC format.

Punto is hitting .200 this year and Lillibridge is hitting .000 this year in a Red Sox uniform. We might as well bring Ciriaco or Iglesias up, they could at least match the offensive production of either Punto or Lillibridge.

We could get the best of both worlds and start Lillibridge in CF and Punto at 3B. I probably shouldn't joke about that, because if that happens, that is just ridiculous. That turns the game from 27 outs to maybe 21 or less.

DiceK is going to have to show up in the first inning instead of tossing batting practice then. We cannot afford to fall behind against the A's because they have the best pitching in the league. Coming back against them is tough, so playing ahead is mandatory. On the other hand, if we manage to get 3-4 runs ahead they have the worst OPS in the league; they do not play catchup well. Key to the game: getting the first few runs.

Just noticed that the ALE, is the only division with all the teams playing above .500 ball and the half of the season is gone. As some of us said in the offseason, this is going to be a dog fight till the end, at least for 2nd place will be.

Its certainly time to make our move. If we can manage to score some runs off Parker and pull this game out we should at least win the series. This is, however, a tough matchup because our worst SP is going against their best SP. Our offense has to come alive. Sure would be nice to see Gonzalez finally earn his keep and start carrying the team like he was hired to do.
