Its almost as if the Red Sox just lost all the wind in their sails after witnessing Daniel Bard laying an egg. The look flat as hell. They better get it back together for the next series.

We're making this ass clown look entirely too good.

It could be worse. How would you feel like to be a major league hitter getting dominated by Atchison night in and out?

Yeah well, 8 free passes in 13 batters faced will do that to you.

Bard doesn't deserve to be anywhere near the MLB mound right now. He needs to get his ass to AAA and figure his s*** out. Bring in DiceK to replace him. Send Bard back to the bullpen in AAA. Get his velocity back up and his control. Then bring him back up.

Day off may do them good. There is only one reason they are losing this game. 5 runs off one hit is giving the game away. You just can't do that unless the opposition pitcher is having equally as bad a day.

Atchison is this year's Hideki Okajima.

It sucks losing, but what sucks even more is watching the team have zero fight in them today. They've played so well lately, it's like they all just gave themselves the day off because they already won the series. Then Bard came out and had diarrhea running down his legs from the get go, and that only compounded things.

Just a frustrating showing all around from this team today, outside of the bullpen.

Gonzo had a great opportunity to get us close, and, as usual, he got sawed off.

If Gonzo does not come up again today he will pick up some ground on his BA outta' this series. Not much though. Started with 3 hits the first game but sorta' lost the opportunity to really make an improvement after that. Nothing seems to be changing for him though. Got a couple of cookies to hit the first game and hit them. Has had RH pitchers the whole series but has not done much with them.

When your starting pitcher shits all over himself from the first inning, it will suck the life out of a team. You can't win them all, but Bard is not able to show any consistency as a starter. He can't get the walks under control. That's just fatal. Today marks the one-third mark for the season I think. The experiment has gone long enough without results this season. He can try again next spring. maybe he can get a spot start or two during the remainder of this season, but they need to pull the plug on him now. It' June 3rd -- the one-third mark for the season, and the Sox are still in last place.

Why on earth would you not pinch hit for Punto? I don't care if Ortiz has to play second base, you don't leave him in for a situation if you have Middlebrooks on the bench.

Last place doesn't matter when you're only 3 games back.

They're also 1.5 back in the WC. And they're 16-7 in the last 23. And they're 6-1-1 in their last 8 series.

I mean, I don't know what you expect them to be after being 12-19 on the Friday before Mothers Day.

I don't think the position matters as much as how difficult it is to make up ground in this year's AL East and I don't think it is realistic to think these teams are going to go away. They will all have their streaks up and down and somebody will finally fade at some point but this is a tough tough division. Spread these teams around and you might have three division leaders playing in one division.

It's got nothing to do with what I expect after the bad start or blah blah blah. I am just stating some facts. We're a third of the way through the season and in last place. It's time to pull the plug on the Daniel Bard experiment. It's time to stop saying it's early and to get serious and stop pursuing thing that are just not working.

It was an historically bad start-- the worst in Red Sox history. He will end up killing some of our guys in retaliation. He has the most walks of any pitcher. It's time for him to go back to the pen.

Ok, I agree that it is time to pull the plug on the Bard experiment.

It sounded like you were saying "We're in last place, we're a last place team" which obviously isn't the case.

No, I am saying that it is time to pull the plug on the experiment. If we were 10 games up in the division, they'd have more of a luxury to be patient with him. This division is a dog fight. Only a handful of games are separating first place from last place. They can't afford to give a way games like this every 5th day.

You can yell at me all you want. But, I think the Bard as a starter thing failed. He isn’t showing he is going to be a good front of the rotation pitcher (he needs to be) nor is he showing he is a good 5th guy. He is a one inning guy and that’s it. Not everyone can be a starter. He is more valuable in the bullpen, not as a 5th starter that can’t get past 6 innings.
