Bard about to walk the bases loaded. And he wonders why V takes him out of games so soon.

This ^^^^

Offense is going to have to take control of this game if we have any hope.

How much longer is Cherries going to allow Bard to embarass himself as a SP? Its gotta end soon you would think. He had his chance; he blew it.

Dicek -> rotation.

Bard -> bullpen.

== Win.

It's strange that I would prefer DiceK over Bard, too. DiceK sucks so hard but Bard in the pen is just so good maybe it'll off-set.

I also would prefer dice over Bard. I don't know if it can get a hole lot worse. Then again I probably just jinxed it.

Its not clear that Bard will be a great RP anymore. He has experienced failure now; his confidence is probably shot. Its entirely possible that our FO has ruined him as a pitcher entirely by leaving him in the rotation past when it was clear to everyone that he does not have what it takes.

Bard can be a great RP again because control issues are suppressed in the bullpen, much like Andrew Miller is a good RP, but not a good SP.

Its possible; its also possible that it will not happen. Joba Chamberlain was never the same after the Yankees ruined him by allowing him to try his luck as a SP. It happens. And the longer the FO allows this farce to continue the harder it will be for Bard to reassume that role. I would not give him more than even odds at being successful as a RP.

Bard wasn't a good starter in college or the minors. He just so inconsistent as s*** with his command. May never able to figured it out as a starter.

What are you talking about? He had a 2.83 ERA last season before hitting the DL.

The comparison with Joba is useless. Joba was a starter first and they used him as a reliever when he got called up. He fail as a starter because he is an injury prone fat f***.

Regardless' date=' injuries should never be used as an excuse for failure. They are part of the game, a part the Red Sox do seem not to play well.[/quote']

No one was making excuses, though. People were pointing out that the team has weathered the injuries really well which puts them in a great position to make a run at the playoffs.

Also, I'd argue that the success is mostly due to the offense being second best in baseball, not the fact that the starters have remained healthy. Even healthy, they were the worst rotation in baseball for a while and last year the team managed to rack up a 100 win pace through the end of August even with Buchholz and Matsuzaka out and Lackey pitching with half an elbow.

If you want to win in the post season, you need good pitching. But you can win in the regular season with a team built around hitting. Luckily, the Sox actually have some really good pitching (or, at least we expect them to be).

Daniel Bard has a WHIP of 1.61 as a starter this year. It is absolutely time. Dice-k or Cook.

Agree 100%. I was very optimistic about Bard as a SP. But he has proven me wrong.

Give me DiceK, throw Bard back to the pen.
