... "The Orioles have the best record in the American League despite having outscored the opposition by 14 runs."

This makes it obvious to me that this team is going to come crashing back to earth, soon.

I think the fact that they are the Orioles and are succeeding is more than enough quantifiable proof that they will be crashing back to earth. Soon.

They aren't that good. I'm not fooled by them nor was I ever. We are taking care of business in this series.

Wonderful.

BALTIMORE — Red Sox outfielder Cody Ross, who fouled a ball off his left foot on Friday, could need a stint on the disabled list because of a fracture.

Initial x-rays were negative but a further examination revealed the possibility of a fracture according to baseball sources.

Ross is hitting .271 with eight home run and 28 RBI.

Gonzo for RF

Can the Red Sox ship stay afloat w/so many injuries??

Can't wait to see Ells & CC if they bring to the table what we hope they will

Sweep the orioles!!

Gonzo for RF

I'm down with that. Especially with the possibility of Ross missing an extended chunk of time.

Gonzo seems to have the basic skillset down. He doesn't have an OF's wheels, but hey, you can't have everything. One thing I don't know about is his arm. Maybe he has a cannon and we never see it because he plays 1B. Anyone have any ideas?

I don't like when 1B get moved to other positions, unless you consider DH a position. Most of them are big slow guys with valuable bats. Oh well.

I'm just praying the FO doesn't bring the team back to the Macdime era.

Amen.

Nava-Sweeney-Gonzo worked in Philly. It's not the long-term solution, of course, but it will work as a stopgap.

Of course, you have to slot in Byrd for Sweeney during whatever time Sweeney misses with his whiplash/concussion.

Good gracious, could you imagine what carnage would ensue if one of us went back in time to late March and said that by the end of May we might have an outfield of Nava-Byrd-Gonzo? This whole forum would have gone so crazy-go-nuts that the server would have melted. No kiddin'.

But right now, that's about the best we can do.

Playing OF for the 2012 Red Sox is like smashing a mirror over a black cat's head while walking under a ladder.

Maybe tomorrow they can recall Youk' date=' put him at first and put Gonzo in RF.[/quote']

Seems like the best short term option with Ross out.

I bet Gonzo is bummed. He thought he'll play 9 games in RF and get credited as a "Team player". Now he might stick there for a while.

I think Aviles to LF, Iglesias to SS.

Iggy is hitting .281 with a .331 OBP.

That's what we assumed about the Rays in 2008. That didn't come to true.

What a horrid outfield! Lin' date=' Nava and Byrd. That's enough to make me gag.[/quote']

Lin is actually a + OF; his problem is that he cannot hit the baseball.

He’s hitting that in the minors. Do you think he is going to be capable to do that in the Majors? Jose isn’t known for his bat. So, I don’t see how that helps us out on offense.

It's not about offense. It's about putting a complete team out there. Gonzalez in RF is going to be a disaster.

Holy s***. We have more injured outfielders than any team in history. They might have to give Drew a call.

I predict that we are in for a tough night with this lineup. On the bright side, as much as we suck this year, the yankoffs suck pretty much just as much. :harhar:
