You guys are hypocrites. Last yr' date=' I believe CC had a no no going and every post in the yankee thread was trying to jinx it. Let's be real here.[/quote']

And if this site was called TalkYanks.com, that would be unforgivable.

I was not one of those. I can guarantee that.

I think it is only Nava's second HR and it is likely to be the only ML HR he hits this year. Plus the guy deserves something to take with him from this stint up with the bigs. He has really done a hell of a job. But lets face it, he is a career journeyman. It is entirely possible that this stint will turn out to be the highlight of his entire professional baseball career. Would be nice to have something from it to go up above the fireplace.

Why' date=' that means a Yankee pitcher is throwing a good game. I hope they all go Chase Wright in the first inning.[/quote']

Nice reference.

Some guy called into WEEI the other day and was saying "I was there, I remember it like it was yesterday, Hughes let up back-to-back-to-back-to-back HR."

I was like Uh. That was Chase Wright big guy.

Why is Lester pitching so well? This can't be reality.

he's found his command. He never lost his stuff. If he can replicate this command on a start by start basis, you will once again have one of the better pitchers in baseball

Yes, of course. More of a joke cause he's sucked so much as of late.

This start from Lester is exactly what this team has needed. Just an absolute dominant start from the top of the rotation. Roll over 2 good to very good starts from Buch, Doub, and Bard, and have Lester start it at the top for another run through.

That's how this team gets back into this thing.

Prince Tubby should take some dieting advice from Papi.

He's a vegetarian, which apparently means he eats pasta by the 5-gallon bucket.

Don and Jerry mentioned he has not thrown the cutter much. There is a growing feeling that Sox pitchers were over throwing the cutter. This could indicate a change in approach.

Ya know what I've noticed?

Bobby Valentine went out and basically lit into Buchholz when he started to struggle in his start against the Guardians early in the game. You could tell he was sick and tired of the SP going out there and giving up hit after hit and run after run. It's like he went out there and said "Clay. Quit throwing like a little bitch. You're better than this. You know it, I know it. Lets freaking go. I'm tired of this s***." And then Buch went out and had a good outing.

You gotta wonder if Valentine is taking a different approach with these pitchers to try to shake it up a little bit. Be a little more of a stern voice rather than just a passive bystander. Hopefully that's the case because that could be just what they need.

Hughes was doing the same thing and his success started this yr when he stopped using it like a 4 seamer. A cutter is a great equalizer against the opposite batters. So for righties, it is good vs lefties and vice versa. It needs to be thrown in off the plate and into the hands to break the bat. Unfortunately, pitchers fall in love with it, try to hit the outside corner with it and when they miss, it becomes a slider speed cockshot. You need to throw it where a missed location isnt a strike cause a cutter in the middle of the plate might as well be an auto-tater.

lol. I love hearing that. Well, it's low fat!!! A lot of our fat nurses who are "dieting" are avoiding "fatty foods" or meats and eating a bucket of pasta because it is low fat. I just shake my head. I even had a nurse tell me that her fettuccini alfredo with crispy chicken and broccolli was a "health food". She was the same nurse who missed time with knee issues, although it is surprising she could find her knees. She was easily 3 bills and only about 5"2". She was a weeble who apparently wobbled and fell down

Who is? Papi? That's sad...

Vegetarian/Vegans are so dumb. I follow the Paleo diet and I probably eat 100x more veggies than them. Pasta & all gluten raises your blood sugar like crazy, intense insulin spikes. It's the road to diabetes, weight loss or not. Stupid. Eat protein & good fats.

Seems foolish to me to close the book on Daniel Nava this way. He only got to pro at 25 and he's hit at every level he's played at. He's a dark horse, sure. He's a longshot, sure, But don't close the book entirely. He's got all the talent he needs to hit at Fenway, and if he can hit at Fenway, he can be a big leaguer.

Prince Fielder is a vegetarian, not Papi

BTW I think the above was Beckett's problem the other night. There is also growing evidence that long term over throwing of the cutter causes greater arm strain and loss in velocity. The Daily News did a story on Jim Abbott last year which raised this concern.

Nava *could* find success as a 4th OF. I don't think he has the stuff to start 160 games a year, but I do think he can provide 150-250 quality AB's a season somewhere.

No he didn't , he sucked as he's been all year long.

He's lucky he only allowed 3 runs in that game with allowing all those baserunners.

Nava is an over achiever who has been counted out at every level. You have gotta admire his tenacity. He is the Anti-J.D Drew.

He is living proof that being a vegetarian is not a ticket to good health.

That's why I said what I did in the thread I created, where I said that Nava had some things in his approach and style that reminds me of Dustin Pedroia. A lot of defiance in the way both of these players approach the game. Sometimes you just gotta ride a guy like that out and see how far he can go. Every now and again you get a story that shocks you.

Nava has no power. He's such a slug!

Haha a700 :harhar:

Atta boy Nava!!!

 I never said he was a slug. He obviously tries very hard. He's a bush leaguer. I should keep bashing him. It's working well. :D The kid is making the most of his shot. It would be funny if he sticks for the season, but Middlebrooks gets sent down.

Ticket to death. Humans are meant to eat protein, good fat, and greens. Dumbass vegetarians.

Given this FO that is exactly what is going to happen:(
