It would be nice if Lester starts pitching well. Can he for once go 8 innings in a ballgame? This team is still 4 games under 500.They need to get on a big winning streak.

I don't know what happened to Lester. Game after game he cannot seem to work the strike zone. What concerns me is that after one of the games where he had a very high pitch count, he said that he thought he was throwing all strikes.

yep its wierd that the umps have always squeezed him for strikes. yet never see that happening with Sabathia...

i understand that he is frustrated but he needs to get the better of it and get to the next pitch and not have that one call affect the outcome of the game

hoping he starts to get into his groove.. go LESTER!! WIN

A contender (Not saying we are one) with a top 3 starter can't lost to the Mariners unless they have Felix on the mound. Hopefully this game will be in our bag by the time the Lakers Thunder game starts.

He was getting squeezed. That was the game against KC where he got squeezed against Butler (see below, pitch 4), then Byrd came in too far and clanked an easy out off of his glove, then Ross hit his leg with his glove on the way up from making a very good running catch and it popped out. Instead of throwing 14 pitches in the first inning, he threw like 38. I mean they gave the Royals 5 outs in the first inning. He needs to learn to keep focus when things don't go his way, but at the same time, his defense has to make those plays.

Peter Gammons just mentioned on the pregame that the Nat's have a scout over here watching the Sox catchers because Ramos went down and is out for the season.

Trade Salty, call up Lavarnway? Yes, please!

Wonder what we could realistically get for Salty. Likely a guy like John Lannan, who the Nat's have been actively shopping. He'd be a guy you could slide into that 5th slot and put Bard back into the bullpen.

That wouldn't be a bad move at all.

Yup. I think Ross and WMB both leave the yard tonight.

Gotta change your sig to President of the keep WMB up club. I'm just waiting on him to get a real number before I get a WMB road jersey. I don't want to be like the people walking around with a Ellsbury 46 jersey.

Why so quick to shove Daniel to the bullpen? I'd shoot for a bullpen arm or another outfielder.

I liked ells as 46. 2 is captain overrateds number

Ya 46 was cool when he wore it, but when you drop a couple hundred bucks on a jersey you kind of want it to accurate. Any random scrub could be wearing that number in the future. I don't think WMB wears 64 for a minute after Youk is dealt.

Arguably, Bard has been the team's best starter to this point. I don't know what kind of bullpen guy we could get from the Nats. They have injuries in their pen. Their closer Storen is out. The Nats have really been hit by the injury bug. In addition to Ramos and Storen, Werth and Morse are also on the DL. Unlike the Red Sox, they are not wallowing in last place and they are looking to make moves to address their needs. Proof that injuries are not an excuse.

Because if we get another SP, we will have to kick someone out of the rotation. Bard is the guy who should be on an innings limit, and he is lights out when he comes out of the bullpen. It's just the most logical fit.

But I'd be ok with getting a guy like Rick Ankiel or even Ian Desmond, which would allow us to move Aviles to LF.

Edit: Eh. Nevermind. I don't want Ankiel. I didn't realize his stick was so bad. Just know he's got a cannon.

Desmond for Salty would be a steal. I don't think they'll go for it.

I wouldn't call it a steal. Desmond hasn't had an OBP over .300 since 2010 (.308) and he has a career OPS of .693. He had a .656 OPS last season. Sox would be gambling that, since he's a dead pull hitter, he would have success at Fenway.

Wouldnt Felix be the first one out fo the rotation?

And put him where? In the bullpen? You have no idea how he'll do in the bullpen, and he isn't going to be on an innings limit, at least not nearly as much as Felix.
