I like this memo but unfourtunaltly they won't do nothing my friend. Their "strategy" was/is stay under the cap. What I do not understand is why in the hell McD is still in the team' date=' I really do not got it.[/quote']We knew their strategy was likely to fail. There was no margin for error. It has blown up on them faster than I thought it would. There is time to regroup and rebuild or reinforce. If they stay pat, it could be a very bumpy path.

A few bullpen tweaks would likely get the job done, once Crawford is back we will see Ross and Sweeney platoon, and we'll be seeing much less of DMac, especially once Ellsbury is back.

Bailey being out sucks, but we all pretty much expected it. Melancon just needs to go away, unless he can somehow miraculously turn it around, but it doesn't look likely at all.

Maybe I listened bad (Texas Narrators), and I really have not checked out the numbers but we are the worst pitching staff thus far in the majors, aren't we?

I'd like to see some tweaking of the pen.

Why are we wasting a roster spot on Nate Spears. He's worse than Repko. Spears, Repko and DMAc. Two guys are injured, Crawford and Ellsbury, but yet we have 3 bums on the roster. The math doesn't add up.

Actually Lester did not give up anything wacky...or historic or colossal. I have no issue with Lester at all. However past Lester there has been a number of real moon shots hit and you just cannot hit the ball that good unless you are right on the pitch.

Will everybody hit the ball that hard...of course not. However if hitters can be right on the pitches members of this staff are serving up, then it will be hard to hold down scoring. Some of us have said for a very long time now that this was shaping up as a team that would have to win games 10-8, 12-10. A team that will consider an 8-6 game low scoring. I don't see anything past Lester that suggests otherwise and he can only pitch once every 5 days.

It is a team with weak defense. This was another game where they allowed the opponent four outs in two separate innings. Jacko you then go an add one last cherry to the top and contend that it is also not as strong offensively as it has been.

So past Lester I really don't see a team that will hold down the competition very often. Yet as you say, it might not be as strong offensively as it has been. That sounds like a tough combination.

On the bright side, I think based on what we have seen, the Rays are anything but a shoe in to win the East or even finish ahead of the Sox in the East. They are a weak hitting team and they have no pen, not just a weak pen but no pen. They are already shuffling guys up from Durham in an effort to find somebody that can come into a game without blowing up. Get past their starting pitching and they will have a very hard time winning games.

So all I am saying is that this still looks to me like a team that will have to put up close to double digits to win games. Does it look like a team that will put up double digits? We will see.

I can't effing believe we still have to watch DMac in a Sox uni. WTF?
We have two guys that are worse than him-- Repko and Spears, so DMac isn't going anywhere.

Yep, in the first 11 games of the season, one team or the other has reached double figures

6 times. And Valentine has already invoked the 7-run rule 3 times.

+ Salty.

.087 Batting average.

.160 OBP

.261 SLG

.421 OPS

7 K's in 23 AB's

Still adequate? REALLY cannot believe people fought me so hard on this last year. Minus a fluke stretch, he was brutal.

Wow. Hypocritical much??

You're basing your argument on 23 AB's, and calling a 242 PA span covering 64 games with an .844 OPS a fluke.

Wow. That's a joke.

I didn't like the proclamation when Stoppach came aboardthat Salty was THE catcher. They pulled that crap last season when the only other choice was Veritek.. So they hire another guy but make it clear that he still is only secondary to the ( great) Salty.

Let them fight it out for the starting job------defense and offense.

I saw him in the dugout after the last win' date=' and it irked me to see him celebrating and hanging out with the team.[/quote']

isnt it wrong for a player who is rehabbing to be with the team enjoying and potentially get hurt again.. seriously.. not that i care.. i hate John Lackey, but why are we so inconsistent.. the team has invested so much in him..

i would love to know who is making these decissions cuz they are not doing their job

We have the worst pitching in baseball as measured by ERA with an ERA of 6.22. The Rays are next worst, of all teams (they will improve) at 5.90.

Nope, just keeping a running tally on his suckiness. Its comical how bad its been thus far......thats the joke.

.....and last year was a fluke, which is sad for his sake.....because it wasnt that good to begin with.
