And there were those who thought Melancon could replace Bard as a setup guy and possible closer.

I was one of those, I'm not afraid to admit it.. Too bad he f***ing sucks now though.

Good thing this game isn't even close, otherwise it'd be up to Jason Repko to keep it alive, and that's something I just don't want to hear.

THANK GOD THAT s*** IS OVER!

Goodnight good folks. Sleep well.

Tomorrow IS another day.

As long as it isn't another 18-3 day.

That's PeteAbe. What an airhead.

Pete followed the Yankees on the River Ave Blog. He had outdated knowledge of the minor leaguers and was typically wrong regularly when it came to guys from AAA or lower.

I want the last 3.5HR of my life back.

I don't think the last three and a half homeruns would make a difference.

Salty hitting .083. Brutal. Not adequate.

Best. Average. Ever.

I feel like Varitek could manage at least twice that, if not better.

OK so it is early in the year. Aside from all of our candle lighting aside, all of our fan optimism, one of the things that bothers me about this team and its aspirations for the year is that teams are not just hitting home runs. Granted two of the four teams so far are the Rangers and Tigers, maybe the two best hitting teams in the AL. But a number of these are historic shots.

Don just called the Hamilton homer "the longest home run he has ever personally seen to right field in Fenway.

No matter how good a hitter is, the only way to get the kind of lumber on the ball that guys are getting is to be right on it.....I mean right on it. That is one of the things that really worries me. It is not the only thing. But you cannot watch these moon shots one after the other and not realize that these are pitches that are fooling nobody, not even a little bit.

jung, don't make me be the voice of reason here. AAARGHHH!. Lester is a solid pitcher. He sucked today, he will not suck like this the rest of the way. Atchison wasnt bad. Padilla was in for garbage time, so that doesnt count. There are two things you can take away from this...

1. Your offense isnt as good as it used to be. It will still be top 5, but I doubt it will be #1 again

2. Mark Melancon was a bad acquisition.

Other than that, if you think Lester is going to put up another stinker like today for the rest of the yr, then I think you'll be wrong

Melancon wants the last 3.5 HRs of his life back also. Oh, sorry, your HR stood for hours.

Memo to the Front Office. Do something, damn it!! Nothing was done over the off season. Of all the relievers available, Cherries went for the injury prone closer with a bad elbow. It has blown up in his face. Next, we sung his praises for getting Melancon under the radar. I think we have seen enough of him. It's time to work around the clock to decide upon and execute a Plan B. We need some reliable bullpen guys. Mike Gonzalez is sitting at home on his porch waiting for a call. We need a an MLB OFer. I can't stand anymore of the duet of Repko and DMAc.

We should trade Salty for a new watercooler and resign Varitek.

Too bad Eastbound and Down is just a TV show, or we could sign Kenny Powers.

DMac is good for pinch running and the OCCASIONAL outfield play-time. I'm not okay with him being a regular player, I'd much rather have Ross and Sweeney.

Not to quibble but pitching not catching is the problem.

This team never does anything half-ass, do they? Tonight they have 3 players have the worst game of their careers in the same game...Lester, Youkilis and Melancon.

It would be nice if the tall sometimes adequate catcher was capable of setting a target below mid-thigh on a batter.

Which is why I mentioned Kenny Powers, that guy would outpitch the bullpen we have no problem.

Not to mention I'd get to hear "You're f***ing out!!!" when he closes a game

Not possible, Melancon only gave up 2 HRs while pitching for the Yankees.

I like this memo but unfourtunaltly they won't do nothing my friend. Their "strategy" was/is stay under the cap. What I do not understand is why in the hell McD is still in the team, I really do not got it.
