Tex is a streaky hitter and if he can get on one of his runs, he could be much higher than that. His AVG capability has dropped as a Yankee, mostly because of the shift and facing better pitching on a regular basis. But when he gets hot, he goes off. And usually, it starts with a lot of power

Mariners finally break the streak, beat the Yankees 9-2. About time.

Nothing like facing Phil Hughes to bust a team out of a 17 game losing streak. Of course it wasn't all Hughes fault, this one was a team effort with 4 different pitchers giving up multiple runs and Granderson letting another fly ball drop in.

 

Hopefully the fact that Hughes "only" gave up 2 runs to the worst offense in baseball will give the Yankees enough hope to start him another 2 or 3 times despite the fact that he gave up 9 hits and walk.

Angels pulled within 5.5 games of the Wild Card and for the moment look like the favorites to challenge the Yankees as the Rays are 8 games back entering play tonight. The Angels and Yankees play 6 more times this year, the first series of which starts on August 8th.
