That would be very accurate this year. It likely has to do with the pitching matchups. The new style Josh Beckett is 3-0 with a 0.86 ERA and 0.71 WHIP and Jon Lester has always pitched well against the Yankees.

Hughes sucked today. His FB location was terrible as usual, and he was lucky to only give up two runs. Even the Mariners were able to smack the ball all over the yard against him. There is just no question at this point that Ivan Nova is a better option.

What a disappointing loss for Yankees fans. They teased like they were going to mount a comeback, then with the tying run on base Martin grounded out and Gardner struck out to cap off an 0-for-5 night before repeatedly smashing his bat into the ground out of frustration. The Yankees were 1-for-9 with RISP and are now 1 game over .500 since the All-Star break.

That will put a dent in Chavez' BABIP. His BABIP before he went on the DL was .297, but his expected BABIP based on his 6.5% line drive rate was more than .200 points lower.

Really been a big fan of Wade. He's been an awesome pick up. I'd send Ayala in for the 8th and ease Soriano back and put him for the 9th. The second game we'd have Mo, Robertson, Noesi and Logan all rested then.
