I absolutely love the move. Crawford has killed us for years with his speed. Now we get to use to our advantage for a long f***ing time. If Ells stays healthy, the Sox will steal a ridiculous amount of bases next year. And we have more than enough power behind them to drive them home.

In addition, there's a huge difference between hitting the salary cap once, and going over it in consecutive years. That s*** will f*** you for a long time, unless you have more money than some continents.

Why? Who's to say they don't already have a deal done with Gonzalez for the most part? I guarantee they've got it just about done, but both Gonzo and the Sox agreed to leave a few things to the end of spring training so they could make a move like this.

 

All Gonzalez cares about is winning. He wants MULTIPLE rings. He knows he'll get his money regardless... the Sox will pay him AND the team gets better by signing Crawford. It's a win-win.

Congrats on getting Crawford. He should really help Boston bounce back after this past season. Well, that and not having half your team go on the DL. While seeing the Sox have a down year here and there is kinda fun, the AL East is much more interesting when New York and Boston are firing on all cylinders.

We gave him $3 million and 4 seasons more than the Yanks just gave Jeter. Given the fact that they're 8 years apart in age and Crawford obviously offers a hell of a lot more offensively and defensively than Jeter does, I'd say it's not as stupid as you think it is.

This is f***ing amazing...I am stoked as hell right now. I hope the Yankees don't get Lee, because I would laugh my ass off so hard. The two guys the Yankees targeted...gone. Lol!

The Red Sox signed Carl Crawford!!!! We have the shiny new toy. I am sure many of you are miserable about this, because you thought he was overrated and too expensive and you wanted broken down warhorses like Maggs Ordonez. I am thrilled!!! I've been at a cocktail party for work and I've had enough vodka to get Spud tipsy, but I am thrilled. Those of you who don't like getting this guy need a lot of mental help. People must be surprised that me and Theo think alike on a lot of things.

I HATE the contract.

 

But I am excited that they front office has gone out and shown to all of us that they WILL pay the money.

 

Couple questions.....what does this mean for Ellsbury and does this mean that there are other moves coming down the road?

 

They are STILL wayyyyy too LH happy.

 

Is there any chance that Ellsbury is traded to NY for Beltran?

 

EDIT: Should throw in there that I am happy Crawford is here, while I dont like the contract, I like the player it got them

Wow this is surprising. To be honest it's probably not what I would have done, but it's exciting. It's a huge contract, probably more than he is worth and it will probably be ugly in years 5-7. But this team is going to very good and very fun to watch in the next few years.

 

And of course, the lineup projections. This is kinda tough.
