Dustin Pedroia

Carl Crawford

Kevin Youkilis

Adrian Gonzalez

David Ortiz

Jed Lowrie

JD Drew

Jarrod Saltalamacchia

Jacoby Ellsbury

dont think so ...

swap Youk and Gonzalez and swap Lowrie and Drew

... or you could promote Nava' date=' count on him to improve on what for a backup was a fairly solid rookie campaign, and save 7.7 million to go and load the bullpen.[/quote']

No.

You were prescient in your views of him two years ago.

But he's not MLB ready. He has said as much!

If the Sox need a cheap, MLB ready RHH OF, I'd advocate Darnell before Nava.

I'm not claiming he's any kind of slugger, but he put up a .350 OBP and I like his chances to improve on that. I can understand wanting a surer thing, but I don't consider the likes of Kearns to fill that description.

IT would cost the sox a second round pick.

But because he's type A, his monetary cost will be significantly lower, plus he's an elite setup guy, and for this bullpen, that's pretty much instant-win. And, the Sox are getting atleast 3 first rounders, plus maybe two more depending on what Detroit and Beltre do this offseason.

Does that mean the Sox lose the pick they got from Detroit (17th or 19th' date=' I don't recall)?[/quote']

No. They can only lose picks that they were "given" at the beginning of the draft process. So if they lose V-Mart and Beltre, they will get the first round of each team that signed them (assuming that they didn't have a protected pick or sign a higher rated type A fa), but they can sign as many FA's as they want and they will not lose those picks. They can only lose their allotted 1st round, 2nd round, 3rd round etc. Supplemental and compensatory picks cannot be lost.

I think im the last person in the world to hear about this all I can say is WOW i didn't see this coming at all. I honestly thought after the Sox got gonzo they weren't even going to attempt to sign Crawford. But im so glad that they did.

Nava is not ready to be the RH bat off the bench. He's not very good at hitting right-handed.

Didn't get through the whole Crawford thread....

So you guys really want Beltran? With his knees? Five bucks says he's done, or close enough to not be worth it.

I don't. More interested in bullpen help.

According to Buster Olney' date=' Jarrod Saltalamacchia has a minor league option left.[/quote']

Whoa, really? That makes things a lot simpler then.

Ideal lineup

CF Ellsbury

2B Pedroia

RF Crawford

1B Gonzalez

3B Youkilis

DH Ortiz

SS Lowrie/Scutaro

LF Drew

C Martin/others

I dont know why alot of people on here are putting Crawford 3rd.

3rd is you're power hitter AKA Gonzalez .

I would put Ellsbury 9th , Drew 6th

Ellsbury OBP is not great for a leadoff man

Crawford doesn't like hitting leadoff.

It doesn't have to be. And in response to a post you made a while ago, it doesn't have to be your best hitter either.

Out of the top 4, 3rd is actually the spot where you should put your worst hitter (of the top 4). Just because other teams do it doesn't mean it's necessarily the best idea.

Rangers owner Chuck Greenberg announced on a conference call that the team made Lee an offer for an unspecified amount, according to Anthony Andro of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram (all Twitter links). The lefty is now weighing his options and the Rangers feel good about their chances. Like the Yankees, the Rangers offered Lee a "menu" of choices, Greenberg said (Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reporting

then why did tito remove Ortiz from that spot when he was stinking up the joint at the start of the season last year ?

The worst of your 4 best hitters. As a general rule, the better your hitter the higher up they should hit.

Also, what Tito does is not necessarily what's best for the team. Theo certainly has his faults as a manager.
