John Lackey, RHP (2-1, 4.50)

Red Sox: The big horsefaced right-hander will renew acquaintances with the Angels, the team he spent his entire career with before signing with Boston as a free agent in December. Lackey recovered from a shaky first inning in his last start to turn in a strong performance at Camden Yards against the Orioles. Over seven innings, he allowed six hits and three runs, two of which were earned. His six strikeouts in that game were a season high. Lackey has given up three earned runs or less in four of his five starts. In his three Fenway starts this season, Lackey is 1-1 with a 6.06 ERA. Opponents are hitting Lackey at a .307 clip so far this season.

Joel Pineiro, RHP (2-3, 5.76)

Like all Angels starters, Pineiro had his ups and downs during April. The biggest downer was Friday's 10-6 loss in which Pineiro wasn't locating his sinker, leading to nine earned runs in 3 1/3 innings. He has walked just five hitters for the year in nearly 30 innings, but the preference is for the hits to innings pitched ratio to fall (40 hits allowed so far). If the control and command are there, Pineiro will be extremely effective. He pitched for Boston on a one-year contract in 2007, going 1-1 with a 5.03 ERA in 31 games exclusively out of the bullpen.

Mojos in effect:

"The DR is not a chicken coop" mojo.

"Mojo is awesome and you must respect it" mojo.

"Runs will keep being scored" mojo.

Keep on rollin' baby!

But what about guys who were never on other teams? Where do we get a pitcure of Lester or Buchholz in something other than a Sox uniform? Or a pitcher for another team who has only played on that team?

I actually did that purposely in the first thread, and inadvertedly (even though i said otherwise  in this one), i think it should indeed become a trend.

Last year the only reason why the Sox kept giving Ortiz ABs' date=' was because there was no guys to back him up. Lowell is too good to be kept on the bench as Ortiz kills rallies[/quote']

Agreed. Makes me wonder why we were trying to get rid of him so badly if he plays the role of a DH just fine.

Lackey is gonna be jacked up for this start

Hell yeah he is. I'm looking forward to seeing him pitch tonight. I absolutely hate Mike Scoscia... hopefully Lackey pays him back for taking him out against the Yanks last year.

It looks like Ellsbury's going to be back sooner rather than later. According to Will Carroll, it's possible, though unlikely, that he'll play this weekend against the Yankees.
