Pettitte was able to throw, he just still felt it.

Regardless, you may think the division is "wide open" but it's a two team race. Your team cannot even hold a lead

and your team's losing to the royals. which is worse?

i'm sure pettitte will be just fine throwing at 75% against major leaguers

Time to see if the bottom of the order can do anything.

EDIT: Dammit, Lance hit that ball well.

EDIT 2: Wow the Royals are awful defensively. Have to capitalize here.

Really nice job by the Yankees' bullpen to keep them in the game. The Royals haven't lost a single game this year that they've led after eight innings. Top of the Yankees' order against Soria...

Dammit, Curtis just missed giving the Yankees the lead.

EDIT: Wow, Kendall drops a pop up. Have to take advantage. At this point, this would be a bad loss.

Pettitte finished his simulated game. He's gonna need a few more. They arent calling it a setback, they're saying he hasnt fully healed and needs to build up strength. Sounds like he's gonna need more than the 1 sim game they prognosticated. He'll need 2 rehab starts at least, so that's 11 days built in that he's missing. If the guess is that he'll need 2 more sim games, then he probably isnt a Yankee option for another 20 days or so, putting Sept 1st as a likely possibility

Oh, and the Sox are 4-3 vs the Royals this yr, the Yankees are now 4-2. Who should be more embarrassed?

But, I thought the Sox were awful and in a coffin full of nails while the Yankees were filled with historical awesomeness. I could have sworn a member of this forum has been spreading this word all year, I just can't remember who.

whatever you say jm, enjoy living in your alternate pinstriped reality

“I definitely think he thinks it’s a setback,” Joe Girardi said.

So I briefly took a look at the Yankees-Royals game on MLB Gameday, and saw the following:

"With Brett Gardner batting, Alex Rodriguez steals (4) 3rd base. Jorge Posada steals (2) 2nd base."

What the f*** Jason Kendall.

Come on, dude. "ARod breaking out" is accurate when he hits 3 HRs in a game. Bust Jacko's balls if you must, but it serves no purpose when he's right.

Right after he hit #600, we were warned that he was going to go "on a f***ing tear". He then proceeded to put up an OPS of .692 for a week. This is the gensis of that comment.

Whatever s*** he gets, he deserves, for shaking his pom poms in this venue. If he shakes them on an appropriately themed site, there's no deserve. If he stops shaking them here, there's no deserve.

This is pathetic. The Yankees can't hold anyone on.

EDIT: And the idea that Francisco Cervelli is anything more than an average defensive catcher is pretty funny. He is a decent receiver, with an average throwing arm, yet he continually makes stupid decisions.

They seem to be seeing the ball well out of Bullington's hand, and Swisher and A-Rod both just missed home runs.

And then Berkman rips one that the center fielder runs down. Eventually these will start turning into hits.

what ors said. when a-rod hit his 600th home run, jm said he was going to "go on a f***ing tear" and guaranteed that he'd raise his ops by .200 points as evidenced by his "massively changed" ops. when i pointed out that he still had an ops in the .400's on the month he called me a pink hat. can't make this stuff up

The Yankees have hit some balls well today that have probably been knocked down by the wind, but they're also not taking advantage of being ahead in the count. Twelve up, twelve down.
