You guys say it in a heat-of-the-moment sense, but the Yankees really do struggle against soft-tossers and junk-ballers.

Per BB-Reference, the Yankees boast a .764 OPS against "Finesse" pitchers (as in, soft-tossers) which is more lower than their overall OPS, and OPS against average and power pitchers.

we used to crush them and not hit the power guys. Now, if the FB is under 92mph, we cannot hit it. Ridiculous.

In terms of Burnett, you get what you pay for. At the end of the yr, he'll have an ERA in the low 4's with a WHIP in the 1.4 range. What isnt told is that he'll have stretches where his ERA is over 9 and stretches where it is below 1

So many great pitches to hit, yet so little to show for it. They should be able to get back in this game, but it just isn't happening right now.

i didn't think any al east teams were playing tonight but was pleasantly surprised to see this score when i went on mlb.com to check the schedule for tomorrow. a month ago, who would have guessed that we'd be tied for a playoff spot and within a game of the division already

First of all, Girardi is an idiot. Chan Ho is minimally effective at best at this point, and has proven to allow runs in the second inning of almost every multiple inning performance.

I cannot f***ing believe this. They have no idea what pitches to throw in what spots.

EDIT: The best change this team could make is to find someone else to call the pitches.

Interesting article which tries to explain Joba's success last night. The more I think about it, the more I think that the author of the post might have touched on something. Tonight, along with May 10th @ Detroit, are the two outings that stand out for Joba this year, based on stuff and velocity. They both followed long top of the 8th innings.

Additionally, we've seen Joba improve his velocity as a particular inning has progressed numerous times this year.

Girardi should be shot in the face' date=' what an idiot[/quote']

One of the worst managers I've ever seen. It's almost comical at this point. He has no clue what he's doing.

2-0' date=' 6 straight balls, ARod swings at a ball in the dirt. We dont deserve to win[/quote']

I've said it a ton of times already, but under Girardi, they do not play this game intelligently.
