I got used to losing the first eight to you last year. Remind me' date=' how did that season end up?[/quote']

This season is different. Arod's hack Canadian doctor has been caught. But Joe Morgan still has a job, sadly. Why?

He is not an early season pitcher. Beckett usually is. But control was a problem tonight which is not that worrying right now IMO being early in the season.

This is why I hate early season Yankee games. We shouldn't be wasting Yankee games on the first week of the season when players are still kinda trying out for the team on both sides, let things shake out at least a bit and then bring on the greatest rivalry in sports.

It's nice to see we were able to overcome a terrible Beckett outing and still win.

Pedro throwing out the first pitch caught me off gaurd. I thought that was fantastic.

Pedro was the only special appearance that was cool. Neil Diamond and Steven Tyler can't carry a tune anymore.

This was a great way to kick off the season.

True. Even the five year old kid did a better job.

While the Pedro appearance was contrived, it was, never the less, very cool.

For me, the highlight of the pre-game ceremonies came when Lowell was introduced.

He gets bashed here on Talksox, but the Boston fans got it right.

This is one of the great mysteries of the universe.

It was great to see Pedro and the Lowell ovation. Always honor our champs.

The worst part was when Joe Morgan said that John Lackey probably had to mend some fences with Red Sox players in spring training.

Why? Because Morgan thought there might be some hurt feelings from Lackey's Angels days...

My god. Joe Morgan.

Wicked cheesy beginning. Why the hell did Pedro throw out the first pitch, he isnt retired. He could very well be a sox opponent come June. The 5 yr old kid? Seriously, stupid. Steven Tyler was high, Neil Diamond was awful.

In terms of the game, kinda surprised since most pitchers start out ahead of hitters, but no pitcher looked sharp. CC looked good early, but really had spotty command. Girardi left him out there WAY too long. I was drinkin with my buddy during the game and we both were yelling for him to take him out coming into the 6th. But, alas, Girardi did not heed the writing on the wall, especially since it was opening day and he already had a high pitch count.

Beckett had his fastball, but couldnt locate his breaking pitches or his change, which meant the Yankees sat dead red and lit him up.

I have no idea why anyone throws Beltre fastballs for strikes. He looks lost on breaking pitches, but he can hit anybody's fastball. Scutaro was a pest, but he was given gift after gift by our staff. How you go 3-0 or 3-1 on the #9 hitter is beyond me. Ellsbury in left is gonna take some time to learn the wall, but his range to his left is gonna take away some EBH.

Homerun Park better learn to keep his fastball down or he will be on another team soon. But it looked like the yankee relievers had the same problem Beckett did. Couldnt locate the breaking pitches and had to come in with the cheese and got pounded.

Regardless, its game 1, I was shocked our offense hit as well as it did this early in the season. Should be a fun game tomorrow night.

So because people acknowledge his best days are behind him, they "bash" him? Ok sir.

With his stuff, Pedro is better off in the NL

that kid was hilarious. I don't know why Jacko is bitching. It was awesome. That kid had a great voice and was poised. Damn, I would have prolly s*** my pants at 19 rather than 5 years old.

If the kid was at the Yankee Stadium opener and said "The Red Sox? Screw them!!", Jacko would be laughing his ass off

Of course he would he is just bitching because they lost last night. If they won he wouldn't be saying anything other than how much the Sox Suck.

I agree, then again I did laugh my ass off when he said "The Yankees? Screw them!!" I remember this kid on ESPN when he gave the authentic speech rather than this version, the kid is good, and comical at the same time. I have to say though, I probably wouldn't be able to memorise that stuff now, let alone at 5 years old.

The best part is Dice-K laughing cause you know he doesn't have a damn clue what the kid is saying or even referencing.

i dont know he has been here a few years so he might understand some of it but prolly not the reference.

I agree the beginning of the game was cheesy, but Pedro as usual, was entertaining as hell. Neil Diamond sucked back when he had a voice, and now that he doesn't your were better off having that scarecrow looking f*** Henry sign Sweet Caroline. OMG look the Sox have some offense hahaha. Chan Ho Park lol.

Kevin Millar threw out the first pitch for the Sox during the 2007 WS and he was an Oriole. Get over it. Pedro was cool!

Heck, we just had Garciaparra come back not too long ago, granted it wasn't at Fenway but the point is still valid. Then again, I've been arguing that he should have come back to Fenway, but that's another story.
