Sounds like a 1yr 6 mil likelihood without an option or a second yr. I think Boras is hoping that Damon can prove he can hit outside of the Bronx. But I agree with Buster. Who else is looking for a corner OFer with a dead pull stroke and diminishing defensive returns? Outside of NY, Damon is an average to slightly above average player (.795OPS). In YS, he is an all-star offensive player (.915). That split and his age are the two reasons why he hasnt been a big draw this offseason. To the Yankees, though, he'd be worth every penny.

The lineup is already sick, Damon would just be a luxury.

But at least it would shut down the "The Yankees offense will regress comments.." :rolleyes:

BTW, if Damon resigns, how sick would that lineup be?

1. Jeter SS

2. Damon LF

3. Teixeira 1B

4. Rodriguez 3B

5. Johnson DH

6. Posada C

7. Granderson CF

8. Swisher RF

9. Cano 2B

SICK. That's not exactly how I would do it, but no matter what order you put them out there in they're still gonna be nasty! This is what I would do....

Jeter

Damon

Tex

A-Rod

Posada

Johnson

Cano

Swisher

Granderson in the double leadoff role

Why the eye roll? Even Jacko has admitted the offense will likely regress if it stands as it is now.

The irony in this post is delicious. Pot, you know who to meet.

The Yankees have made two more minor league signings. They've signed outfielder David Winfree, who has spent his entire 7 year minor league career in the Twins organization. They've also signed lefty Royce Ring, who was once very highly touted and saw some Major League time with the Mets, among other teams.

Winfree's a good depth signing. He's a RHH with some pop against southpaws.

I'm not too familiar with him, I haven't even had a chance to look at his numbers yet. But either way the added depth never hurts.

I'm intrigued to see how Royce Ring does in Spring Training and if he could possibly beat out Boone Logan as the second lefty in the pen. He used to throw some serious heat, but from what I understand his velocity has decreased some.

Ring's just way too wild. 1.553 career WHIP, with 5.5 BB/9. Granted it's only 65 innings, but goddamn.

I agree. He's a 29 year old with a 3.4 BB/9 in the minors over 300+ innings. Looks like a career minor leaguer to me.

Yeah most likely. But if he could ever get some control, with his live arm he'd be fun to watch.

All in all not a bad low-risk move.

"Oho!' said the pot to the kettle;

"You are dirty and ugly and black!

Sure no one would think you were metal,

Except when you're given a crack."

"Not so! not so! kettle said to the pot;

"'Tis your own dirty image you see;

For I am so clean -without blemish or blot-

That your blackness is mirrored in me"

Yeah, he's a rather typical minor league signing that may provide some depth down the road should another guy not work out or get hurt.

Its a smart low risk signing since it is looking more and more likely that Damon isnt coming back. Hence, Jamie Hoffman figures to get quite a few ABs as the righty portion of a platoon and if he doesnt cut it, having a few guys in the queue couldnt hurt.

The Ring signing is another depth move that could impact the major leagues. With Dunn and Coke gone, that really only leaves Marte in the bullpen. Now, we have guys like Wilkin de la Rosa and Jeremy Bleich in the upper levels who could be the second lefty in the pen, but Ring is more suited to being a seldom used lefty specialist. After the recent deals, I actually think Ring could be a possibility out of Spring Training to crack the big club.

I don't blame them for not accepting, I was just pointing out that the offer was made. I wouldn't have accepted just Montero straight up for Halladay either.

Off-topic, just wanted to share this devastating picture with everyone...

I still don't understand what is sad about knocking down a relatively new stadium (33 years old) that was so poorly constructed that it started falling apart. It's not the original stadium. It didn't even closely resemble the House that Ruth Built.

The Yankees will need to get a Hyperbaric chamber in the clubhouse to help him recover after he plays his 1 game a week.

On anything more than a MiLB deal, it would be a waste of money

What's funny is that the new stadium has a closer resemblance to the original Yankee Stadium than the remodeled one did.
