Not something I like seeing this morning

"Tough Market may leave Sox at Status Quo

Theo already eyeing 2010 free agents"

I've already been saying that outside of Holliday the FA class is uninspiring. I am not one of the "Sign Lackey and deal Buchholz" group. IMHO I don't see Lackey being worth what it will take to get him. to me the guy is a walking red flag.

I won't blame Theo if he decides to save rather then hand out long term deals to questionable players. 2011 draft class is much more impressive.

I also don't think the Red Sox have to go crazy to be competitive next season either. So as much as I don't like hearing the Sox might not do much. I can honestly see the reasoning behind it. And wouldn't blame them for passing on this years FA class.

I can still hold out for a trade :D

True but 2 of those free agents this offseason are Bay and Holliday. I guess its bad taste in my mouth from last offseason's acquisitions of Penny (bust, released), Smoltz (bust, released), Baldelli (bust, couldnt stay healthy as 4th OF), and Saito (did decent job but not trusted for set up role)

While 2010's class does look good, the biggest stars are likely to be pried away by the Yankees. Especially Mauer if the Twins dont lock him up

I don't think this news on Halladay has any bearing on Halladay's trade value whatsoever. It's still..what? Four months until spring training? It's like Mauer saying he won't negotiate a new deal once spring training begins.

Way too much time, and the game for Halladay hasn't begun, and won't begin, until after the Winter Meetings. I expect this to be wrapped up by mid-January.

Your hatred for the Yanks must not get in the way with your objective look on things, it lowers your credibility tremendously.

Always makes me smile to read about you talking about credibility. A good laugh is a great way to start the day, my friend.

It has to make you laugh, you have no idea what that is.

Do you contend that getting Swisher (even if you don't like him) for Wilson f***ing Betemit was a fantastic trade by Cashman?

Wilson Betemit by the way was signed to a minor league deal by the Royals

I get it..the Dominican idea of credibility is to make up stats and then accuse other of making up theirs when they are telling the truth. To tell the truth must be an abberation...no wonder you question those who tell the truth. Must be a Dominican thing. I think it's ingrained in you...never met a Dominican who didn't lie.

Of course it was. When did I ever say it was a bad deal? It was a great deal.

I find it hard to get past you challenging anyone's credibility.

Not saying I have any, but really do you think anyone here is going to actually take to heart anything you say about credibility?

When they lie about stats and then claim that you're lying about yours, that's where I draw the line. Your opinions are one thing. What you quote is another.

Example: You've been posting here for a while. You've never made s*** up. You're credible. You may be an idiot, and an absolute moron, but you're credible.

Understand? Good...now go play in traffic.

Making s*** up?

You mean the Gom special?

Example: "Clay Bucholz has been injured a lot?"

You keep grasping to my mistake between PA's and Ab's, and you're still butthurt because i handed your ass to you in a silver platter in the Holliday discussion.

You were so desperate you said "several people had PM'd you", when in fact it was just ital playing with you.

Now THAT'S making s*** up.

What, you thought i forgot about that already?

Ladies' date=' chill out. This was a good thread until the provoking started[/quote']

Well, in all honesty, i was actually defending your GM Brian Cashman, my dear ma'am. It's what i get for being objective.

Posted
You did defend Cashman, kudos. And whomever pretends that the Swisher deal was anything but sheer genius is an idiot. You add a guy with an .869OPS and 29 homers who takes pitches with the best of them for a bag of baseballs and you have to give kudos to Cashman. WHat I find miraculous about Swish's season is that he absolutely sucked at Yankee Stadium. His splits were .946 away, .776 home in terms of OPS with only 8 of his 29 homers coming at home. Imagine what he could have done if he took advantage of the short porch. He is my pick for an even bigger 2010 and I am really glad we got him

I figured he was injured...but apparently he just sucked. I don't follow the Sox that much.

As for the plate appearances thing...you called me out about it, and you were wrong. Not only that, but I gave you a chance to admit your error, which you refused to do. That showed not only stupidity, but a lack of immaturity and credibility. As for the silver platter...Merry Christmas buddy. If he is such an elite hitter, how come no one is rushing to sign this guy, or rumors, or whatever. Did you forget how things were with Tex last year? Every day was a Tex rumor or three. This year? Whatever.

As for several people, I don't even remember stallion messenging me. He might have. I have no idea. It numbered close to 10 though. Funny stuff...and you still harp on it.

Feel free to continue, and hijack the thread, or drop it and talk baseball, hopefully without lying and making s*** up.

Ah, it appears i have struck a nerve.

"Drop it and let's talk baseball".

You gonna call your mommy crying?

Making s*** up is talking about something you know nothing about as if you do. I.E: Matt Holliday's stats and potential, Clay Bucholz and everything about him.

And by the way, what is this about the Yanks not offering arb to any of their FAs?

Mega-contract to either Bay or Holliday or fiscal restraint?

This is why no one takes you seriously. Why even comment on the topic?

Nope, I was trying to respect the others here. However, I will choose to continue since obviously you will.

You accused me of lying, all the while touting stats that were irrelevant. I talk about how he couldn't hit in the AL or away from Coors. You showed how he hit against the AL without differentiating between Coors and away from Coors.

This digresses from the point. You can have your opinions, however wrong or right they are. However, you claimed I lied about the stats, and then when I gave you a chance to backtrack, you didn't.

When I said Buchholz was injured, I just didn't remember him playing. Figured he was hurt. You said he wasn't, I looked it up, and you were right. He sucked, but wasn't injured.

If I did what you did, I would have continued and claimed he was really injured, but the Red Sox lied about it.

That's credibility. You don't have it.

Secondly..about crying to my mommy, she'd dead, been dead for 10 years. I guess if you did the same, you'd just have to go upstairs from the basement, right?

Thought so.

Credibility is actually making the research to back up a claim before you run your mouth and end up getting embarrassed..

Now the things you stated as "Facts" have become "Opinions". Credibility indeed.

He has a .880 OPS in interleague play in his career. Considering his entire career was in the NL except for four months in the AL with Oakland, the majority of those numbers, in fact, all but one season, this year, he compiled a .880 OPS.

His OPS in Oakland was .832.

You're quoting .892 as his OPS.

Only in your world does any combination of adding and averaging .880 and .832 come up to .892.

It's one thing to have an opinion. It's another thing to be wrong on something. It's something completely different to lie and then accuse others of lying.

Back to baseball? Your call.

Well that's the only thing you keep holding on to for dear life. I made a mistake confusing PA's and AB's and later admitted it.

How about addressing the actual fabrications made in that thread and regarding Bucholz?

More "Gom circular logic" or baseball. Your call.

Show me where you admitted it in that thread. I don't remember reading that. I do remember asking you to admit your error on that particular issue, and you declined. Show me where you admitted you were wrong in that thread. More lies...but you're the credible one. Got it.

As for the thread itself, I say we leave our assertions there, as we agreed to in the past.

Buchholz? I thought he was injured. I remembered him going on the DL for some reason in the last two years, and he pitched only 90 innings or so in each of the last two seasons. I realized they sent him down because he sucked. When he came back, he was an average pitcher.

The point is, about Buchholz, trading a player who's 25 who has yet to show any sort of dominance for an extended period of time for a bona fide ace who makes you the World Series favorite is something I'd do.

Changing subjects here...if you were the Blue Jays....would you rather take Buchholz and Kelly or Joba/Hughes and Montero?

For those of you that follow the minors, your time to shine. Which package, and why?

Doubtful he has an even bigger 2010.

The logic is there. Yankee stadium is a homerdome for lefties and he takes about 2/3 of his ABs from the left side. Yet he sucked there in what can be considered more of an aberration than anything else. THe same can be said for his insane split away from NY. My thinking is that his home split will increase more than his away split will drop, meaning his OPS has room to go upward. Especially when you consider that he will still be hitting in the lower third of the order
