As for another 2B who's left, I'd have to search a bit but the only guy I can think of who's still on the board and worth much at all is Alberto Callaspo. Who I was going to take if Weeks didn't fall to me. Maybe Jose Lopez too but his OBP is putrid as a rule

Nolan Reimold is a good pick. I was strongly considering him for my next pick. Impressive minor league numbers. I think he could be a Pat Burrell with a little less power but a lot more speed.

I keep going back to the draft thread and scanning again and again because I can't BELIEVE that guys like Orlando Hudson and Howie Kendrick were picked while Weeks was still in the board.

Are you serious?

Rickie Weeks is injury-prone, defensively suspect and 10 HRs is power potential?

Orlando Hudson is better defensively than Weeks will ever be, besides having a premier contact rate and good speed on the basepaths.

You could even make a case than while injury-prone as well, Kendrick is a better overall package than Weeks as well.

Guess why?

Because Weeks SUCKS.

I'm honestly beginning to assume you think i have the best team on this league, since you keep criticizing my picks.

Yeah' date=' not quite sure how Weeks is a better player than Kendrick or Hudson.[/quote']

You're BSing me right? How is Weeks NOT better than a part-timer like Howie Kendrick? A guy who thinks that "taking a walk" is what he does when he goes back to the dugout after swinging at virtually every pitch he's ever seen. He's almost pure batting average and very vulnerable to slumps and BABIP flukes as a result. That, and he actually plays fewer games in a given year than Weeks. Defensively I'll take the guy with a lot of range and the occasional bonehead play (such as Weeks or 2007 Kinsler) over a guy who patrols much less territory even if he does it well

As for Orlando Hudson, I have to admit I thought he was older than he is (for some reason I thought he was 34). He's a very good disciplined hitter, but he doesn't have Weeks' talent or speed and he wasn't exactly Mr. Durable over the last couple years either. Hudson probably is a better player than Weeks. But it's not a slam dunk either. Weeks has far more speed than Hudson ever did and as much power as Hudson had 3 years ago before whatever happened.

Is Weeks injury-projne? Sure. He's out right now in fact. But he's also averaged 500 plate appearances over the last 2 years so there's reason to hope he's maturing past that problem. And if he can ever get some consistency Weeks has the same kind of upside as a Kinsler, so there's a risk, but also a reward.

Goddamn, Ryan Madson is an excellent pick. Terrific setup man. I thought I could sneak him past everyone in a later round.

That's why i picked him now and probably gave about half of the league fits again like with the Verlander pick, lol.

Picked Ian Stewart and David Murphy at 3b and 1b respectively. Both are pretty young and could become decent players.

Murphy is questionable, but Steweart has a ton of potential.

Well I have to admit I looked right past Kelly Johnson. I probably wouldn't have drafted him, but he definitely does make his team better and he's healthy and pretty dependable,

I wouldn't have drafted him because he really doesn't have the speed I was looking for and I've heard talk of moving him to 1B in the past, which I interpreted as being a mediocre defender. I guess it's a question of what you feel the best possible fit for your team was, and I wanted to get Granderson's triples power up to bat with more runners on base.

Not bad at all, especially as 2B go, but I'm still fine with Weeks. Johnson's a bit too dependent on his breakout year in 2007 setting his reputation for my tastes.

Took Nelson Cruz.

He's always been an offensive beast in the minors and in DWL.

He's not the most adept at working the count, but he has loads of power, and good range and a cannon for an arm in RF.

A consistent .280/20/80 line from Cruz is not impossible, even f he were to play away from the Bandbox in Texas.

You might be selling Cruz a bit short there. But you are right about Texas augmenting his hitting stats.

He can hit the cover off the ball anywhere, and hell, he can even steal a base!

Indeed, and over his las 300 or so at bats he's even been making contact with the ball.

What I don't know is how he is as a defender.

Average range, but a f***ing cannon for an arm.

I remember hearing from a kid who used to play ball with him while in a tryout for the Padres, he used to get the slower guys out at first from right field when he played shallow.

Great pick of Cruz and Johnson.

Very good value on power for Cruz, which is getting scarce this late.

I might need to stretch out before i say this.

But i think i've constructed one hell of a lineup if Cruz is hitting 7th on my team.

not really a fan of guys named Kelly but I find him great value at this point with 10-15 HR power and a solid OBP around .350-.360

I went with Andrew Miller. Again a high potential unproven talent. LH come around a little later sometimes, but I think he is on the verge of being a very good pitcher.

High risk/High reward pick.

If that kid can harness his control, he's gonna be a force.

Seems I have a few of those:D

Just for kicks, let's check out your lineup.

C-McCann

1B-Adrian Gonzalez

2B-O-Dog

3B-Zimmerman

SS-Bartlett

OF-Hawpe

OF-Ludwick

OF-Cruz

DH-Empty

One thing that stands out is that you basically have 3 right fielders. Ludwick can play LF too, and you could draft a CF and move someone to DH to solve that problem.

If I were to make a batting order, I'd go:

1. Brad Hawpe

2. Orlando Hudson

3. Brian McCann

4. Adrian Gonzalez

5. Nelson Cruz

6. Ryan Zimmerman

7. Ryan Ludwick

8. Jason Bartlett

It's RH heavy on the bottom, so whoever your last hitter is I would try to make him a lefty and squeeze him somewhere around the 6-7 hole. The fact that Ludwick is hitting 7th (which is just my opinion, I don't think he's as good as 2008) confirms that you have a pretty damn good lineup.

Actually, i'm gonna draft a CF since i already moved Hawpe to DH.

But this is the actual lineup i'm envisioning.

1. TBD

2. O-Dog

3. R-Zimm

4.Gonzo

5.Ludwick

6.Hawpe

7.Cruz

8.Mcann

9.Bartlett
