Yeah I don't think he's going to help a team win in the next, what was it, five years?

I mean, you don't even have a body.

<_>

And yeah Kilo, I asked about Strasburg in the other thread. I'd say it's cool to draft him, since he'll probably be in the bigs by the end of the year. And because I want him.

What happens if a player you choose gets sent to the minors?

If he's on a major league roster at the time you pick him he still counts as a major leaguer.

We can get some analysis of picks going, too.

I would have selected Longoria over Wright myself. Longoria is going to be a special player in this league for a long, long time.

Agreed. He has a much longer future, in my opinion.

Longoria was my 1st choice because he's a few years younger, will hit more home runs and is probly the best defensive 3rd baseman in the game already. I like Wright a lot too tho. He should hit for a higher avg. and draw more walks. He's also a very good fielder but not on the level on Longoria.

I think Longoria will be a monster. Some say he's the next Mike Schmidt. That's a once in a lifetime third baseman. Hard to pass up. I expect a slight drop off in Wright's power in the next 5 years, especially in that new park. As for Reyes, you're never really sure how old those Dominicans are. And all of those stolen bases may take a toll on his body.

Pujols and Hanley were excellent, if predictable picks. Tulo definitely took me by surprise.

Per the format, Wright's park isn't an issue. They are 1 and 1A at 3B for a 5 years forward window, and you can make a case for either being the 1.

If you look at the structure of his contract, it's not abundantly below what he'd get going through pre-arb and arb for the first 6 years of it. Where they make hay is in the 3 club option years.

Well, when a team picks in the top 3 for a decade, they are bound to find a special player. Just think, they could have Hamilton too .

The rationale is simply that, especially considering his position, his offensive production is fantastic. Even if you group him with every single hitter, regardless of position, he's still up there. Not to mention he's young.

Question: Should current injuries play a role in our selections (sorry if this has already been covered).

Of course injuries should play a role. A pretty big one, at that. We'll be evaluating these players over the next 5 years.

Yeah, obviously long term things are a concern, but I meant more guys that are on the DL now and will be back soon (for an injury that doesn't seem to have long term concerns).

No, because you're building for now and for five years from now.

Fantastic pick - he's 30, but he's arguably the best second baseman offensively and defensively, and at that end of the defensive spectrum it's great value.

Crespoblows is on the clock.
