Three players and $7 million for Jason Bay. The Red Sox got shafted. The Dodgers got Manny for free for two prospects. The Pirates got 4 guys for Bay. We got the short end of the deal by a long shot.

Yeah, sucky trade. A lot of other teams liked Hansen and Moss - like the Braves do...

But whatever. The Sox will continue to have a solid if not high powered offense. The bullpen will continue to suck until the starters can regularly go 6+ innings without giving up 8 runs.

 

If the Sox could get their starters to actually pitch well, this team is pretty solid. Should be interesting from here on out.

I love this deal. It is a fantastic deal.

 

Of course...I'm a Yankee fan. Thank you Theo Epstein, for giving us the wild card/division. You traded away a better player, plus two others to get an inferior player.

 

This is almost as good as the Nady/Marte deal. Maybe even better.

 

I figure the net gain for the Yankees over the Sox in the last few days is about 5 wins. Enjoy watching us in October.

Have you watched a game recently? Manny doesn't run plays out, but the last few games he has taken it to another level. Hes a risk right now, like i've said, there going to miss 2 months of his play, a few years ago I would have been mad at this, but hes not the same player he was. I don't care how good he is, if hes not going to try then hes no use to the Sox.

I'm trying to think about the money issue here. With Manny's 20M coming off the books this offseason, who knows, maybe we can sign Sabathia or Sheets, improve the bullpen, etc. Bay is still a relatively cheap player considering he only makes 7M in '09 as well. Just something to think about.

A wash? We are getting some scrub from the Pirates for a HOFer.. The one time Bay was in the spot light was the homerun derby 0 hrs hit. Like GOM said this trade is disaster for the Sox. Come August 15th when Bay is booed Arod style I want to hear you people call me a idiot then, untill then enjoy watching Willy Mo Pena or Jason Bay.. same player play left everyday.

You're the scrub here. If you seriously want Bay to fail because you disagree with the trade, then please stop being a fan of our team. I know I know, you never said that, but that's sure what it sounds like. Personally I hope Bay gets a standing O from the fans as a show of support to get behind the guy, and I hope he has a great final 2 months for the Sox. First Off, they are paying all of manny's remaining 7 mil.

 

Then they turn around and weaken the wrost part of the team by trading Hansen and then they throw in Moss, just to make sure this trade goes down in history was one of the worst of all time.

 

They shoudl have not traded Manny, and then sent him home ala Terrell Owens, if he refused to play. They are paying him anyways, he would be embarassed, the team couls save face, and they would still have Moss and Hansen.

I love CC, Guy won us a championship all by himself, and he gagged again vs the Cubs this week blew a lead. I rather face CC then have him play on the team. Only upside to this is if the Rockies are dumb enough to want Jason Bay for Holliday. If the Yankees sign Manny 85 years to go

 

As for Manny thanks for bringing 2 duckboat parades here you were probably the best player the Sox had sense Ted Williams I hope you do very well in LA and stick it down Epsteins throat with a division title there.

I'm noticing a trend, most people who are throwing temper tantrums and pissing and moaning about something they have no control over, have about 100 posts or less.

 

I can't be anymore blunt, Manny quit on the Sox to force a deal, if Manny wanted to stay he would have vetoed any deal, he wanted out, he didn't want his options picked up, he wants a new 4 yr deal. Let the Mets sign him.
